Favorite Trail:anything but fire roads
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $400.00
Purchased At:Los Angeles Craigsli
Strengths:The aesthetically pleasing carbon/aluminum frame is very light, durable, and quiet... Rides like a soft(ish) hard-tail when you stand off the saddle (climbs like a champ)... It came with a set of somewhat flexy, non disk-compatible Mavic/Shimano wheels, but a new set of Mavic Cross-Rides are WAY stiffer and let one appreciate how tight, crisp and responsive this bike's handling is, especially when you put some weight on the saddle... The stock front V-brake pads were toasted after the first couple of rides (they were 10 years old), but I'm now much more confident descending with a front disk brake (this is why I got the Cross-Rides in the first place)...
Weaknesses:Squeaky RS Judy, 500+ gram rear shock, seat is painful... 10 year-old components... Rides like a (slightly) soft hard-tail when descending out of the saddle (a bit jarring at times)...
Similar Products Used:My friends 2007 Giant All Mountain (very nice)... And an old Costco "special" Mongoose aluminum-framed (POS) that constantly broke. Thankfully, someone stole it...
Bike Setup:So far... Just the Mavic Cross-Rides, 160mm Avid Elixir CR (front only; the rear is the stock V-brake), a Specialized Sonoma 155 saddle, Panaracer Fire XC Pro 2.1 front and rear.
Bottom Line:If you are a hard-tail rider a bit unsure of dual-suspension bikes, you will love this bike.

I have have put 186 miles on this bike so far, and have been amazed at how good this Home-Grown bike is, both on and off road.

It was made in the USA by the real Schwinn, not the re-badged Wal-mart/Target bikes currently available. So sad...)

My friends all have much newer, more advanced bikes; but it's still very easy to keep when riding this thing! If you see an S20 or the S30 Carbon for sale, get it!

I gave it 5 for value, because I would've paid a lot more for it than I did.

It also gets a 5 overall because it is a really nice XC bike. With some newer components, it is quite amazing.

Favorite Trail:96th street
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $1000.00
Purchased At:Schwinn
Strengths:This thing is light! Single pivot design that I have never had to work on ONCE! The paint job on this thing it beautiful and super durable! This has the same rear end design as the "home grown" Schwinn Full Suspension Series.
Weaknesses:Off the rack it has lower end Shimano parts, but still one bad monkey! Not great for downhill, with out modifying, but Im comparing it to a STS GT that was set for downhill. Has that carbon fiber sound when getting bumped around, but the only people that are laughing is you as you cruz past the other full suspension bikes that weigh 10-20 lbs more!
Similar Products Used:Owned a GT STS(full sus carbon). The GT was ultra smooth in comparison, but with the three pivot points it should be. This bike it still about 4-5 pounds lighter than the STS!
Bike Setup:factory.. Getting ready to replace the Judy "long travel" front fork that came with it. It finally leaked out all its juices!
Bottom Line:I owned a GT STS (full carbon), I loved that bike, the rear end was as smooth as silk. I hated that bike because of having to tear down and rebuild the rear end after about 30-40 hours of riding(lame).

The single pivot on my S-Caron has never needed ANY service and does not sound like a injured bird(Like my GT). The paint job is by far the most beautiful and durable paint job I have ever had on ANY bike! Had many spills and finally got a scratch(not deep, thank God), on the neck of the carbon fiber. I have had people offer me 1000usd, last month, and its about 8 years old. Dam thing still looks and rides like it new.

I paid 1000.00usd since it was the last one they had. Got the dealer down from 1300.00 I think it actually list retail for 2200.00. You cant even come close to a Carbon fiber this light(for the price) in today's market.

If you can find one today in good condition BUY IT! Dont even offer my anything less than 1500.00. Yeah I know I paid 1000.00, but would not even consider taking less than 1500.00! Cant buy one today like this for less than 3000.00.

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $300.00
Purchased At:eBay
Strengths:Carbon and URT - light and simple.
Weaknesses:Carbon Frame - cracked just above pivot, will ride carefully til it snaps.
Schwinn - dpeartment store brand, not sure if Dorel can really offer support for this line.
CRAZY cable routing.
Similar Products Used:GT STS - stolen - best MTB ever
Bike Setup:SID XL, Mavic Cross Rides, STX/XT 8 speed
Bottom Line:Can't complain, bout for $290 on eBay. Shame about the crack. It will go out with a blaze of glory, like all good MTBs should.

Similar Products Used:Trek y-11 full susp.Carbon, Klein full susp. Carbon,
Bike Setup:Shoot I can't tell ya right now I haven't had the bike now for three years. had a few seance then. Mine was stolen
Bottom Line:The bottem line is I have had quite a few other bike a lot like this one but never one that. I liked better for sure. If I could find another one, belive it I would buy it in a second flat

Soquel Demostration Forest
Duration Product Used:
less than 1 month
Strengths:
Looks, Singletrack riding, absorbtion in the saddle, weight without Rockshox Deluxe, Rides like a hardtail off the saddle
Weaknesses:
Rockshox Deluxe rear shock, rides like a hardtail off the saddle, Weight with Rockshox deluxe, weird cable routing
Similar Products Used:
K2 4000, Cannondale Raven, Cannondale 2000, Specialized FXR
Bike Setup:
Replaced Rockshox Deluxe with a CaneCreek AD-10, XTR All around, Rockshox Judy 100 fork, White wheels
Bottom Line:Decent weight with the Canecreek AD-10 and XTR at 26 lbs even. I can go lighter but the expense is too high at the moment. Judy 100 with a brake brace helped stiffen the front end. Rides very plush in the saddle, but like a hardtail out of the saddle. Still it's a wonderful ride on singletrack and descents that aren't too steep so you can still activate the rear shock by contacting the saddle with your backside of your thigh. Anything steeper and your off the saddle with a ride like a hardtail (maybe with just a tad more absorbtion than a hardtail). Still it's a wonderful bike that works like it was designed for. It's not a downhill bike, but it works for everything in between. It could drop another pound for a perfect CC bike that you can use for racing.

Anything that challenges me downhill
Duration Product Used:
6 months
Strengths:
Comfortable ride, good contol downhill, and handles bumps and ruts well.
Weaknesses:
A royal pain adjusting the rear shock. Front derailer could work better. Wish I can adjust the seat height more. Oh, had to repack the hubs to make them work better.
Similar Products Used:
none really, cause there isn't really a full suspension bike out there with the setup close to the price of this.
Bike Setup:
Upgraded the brakes to XTR with a rear carbon brake booster, changed the seat to the Specialized geometric. Looking into changing to a riser handlebar, and changing the Avid brake levers to XTR at the same time.
Bottom Line:The bike is excellent for the money, and with some upgrades, this bike can easily jump to a higher level. The bike I had my eyes on was an Intense, but for now this bike serves my purpose and easier on my wallet...I still have to ride up the hill either way.... Since so many of you mention changing the rear shock to Cane Creek air shock, I may look into doing that in my near future.

Strengths:
Great looks, Sweet Spot suspension rocks!
Weaknesses:
Rear shock sucks. Seat adjusts up/down only 1.5 max due to rear shock placement. Stock components are only fair.
Similar Products Used:
Checked them all out.
Bike Setup:
Fully upgraded. Full '98 XTR setup, RF Cranks and seatpost, XTR/Bontrager Valiant wheelset, Englund Total Air Fork Upgrade, Cane Creek AD-10 rear shock. Only standard parts left are pedals, headset and frame.
Bottom Line:I got the bike from SuperGo for $799, no sales tax, along with $100 in free gear. This has the be the best deal of 1999. I met one guy online who paid $1699 for it new in May 1998.I love this bike. Great bike to upgrade... started with decent components, then changed piece by piece till my dream bike became a reality. Bike weight dropped from 29+ to less than 25 pounds, around 24.6 lbs. That is very light for a quality full suspension bike. The bike climbs well, handles perfectly and seems to be very strong.

Strengths:
Sweet spot
awsome paint scheme
light
attractive looks
Weaknesses:
Cane Creek air shock would be nice!! instead of rock shock deluxe
Similar Products Used:
Schwinn S-20 Aluminum frame
Mongoose VRS
Bike Setup:
Marzocchi Z2 Atom Bomb
Rock shock rear deluxe
Bottom Line:This bike is awsome! I had a Schwinn S-20 Prior to this frame. I didn't think the carbon homegrown would be that much better, but it is!! So solid, handles like a dream. Climbs great, The sweet spot is soooooo... plush for trail riding. Got a great deal on my frame, $499.00 at supergo. Only complaint is the rear shock. A cane creek air shock would save alot of weight and work much better. I can't think of a better ride for the money.

Strengths:
Oh the Sweet Spot
Weaknesses:
Seat, Limited adjustment on RockShox rear shock
Similar Products Used:
I-Drive (sucks), Gary Fisher, STS, San Andreas, Diamond Back X-6, K-2
Bike Setup:
Replaced headset with Chris King, Replace 135mm stem with 120mm, Control Tech seat post, Bontrager seat with Ti rails and Kevlar cover, Shimano 747 pedals replaced Scott pedals, and a new seat of Panaracer Fire XC pro tire (SWEET), Titec HellBent riser bars
Bottom Line:You can't beat the rear suspension design, unless you are just go downhill. If you want a great all around bike the Schwinn is hard to beat. I spent 14 years on hardtails and this bike was a great replacement, lots of cush and no momentum stealing pedal bobbing. PS mine is only 26 lb.

I am in Korea 70% of the country in mountains. You want me to pick one trail?
Duration Product Used:
3 months
Strengths:
Good design climbs almost like a hard tail
Weaknesses:
Heavy component set up. Recok Shock Deluxe is a deluxe piece of cr*p
Similar Products Used:
GT-I drive, Gary Fisher LvL Betty, Can Raven
Bottom Line:This is a great design for a full suspension ride. The component package was not the best but I was willing to fork over some $$$ to improve my setup. There was only one functional problem with the bike. The LX crank will rub the frame do to the full suspension design. The easy fix for this problem is to replace the LX bottom bracket with an XT. The XT is just a little longer and enough to save your frame/crank from unwanted wear. I have upgraded all components to XT/XTR 9 speed. The Rock Shock deluxe rear shock leaves a lot to be desired. It is the heaviest part of the bike at nearly 500grms and is noisy. I plan on replacing it with a nice Cane Creek air that will wiegh in at around 190grms. All in all I am very pleased with this bike. If you are serious about riding I would go with the Schwinn S-10 to start out with some better components. I got a good deal on this bike so I was happy to spend a few $ turn it into a nice carbon machine. If you can get a good deal on one do it, you won't be sorry.

Duration Product Used:

Strengths:
Full suspension, carbon/7005 aluminum frame for about $1500 Canadian for the S-20! Would have opted for the S-10 had they had it in my size.
Weaknesses:
Some of its components (according to some seasoned riders)
The funky looking seat
Similar Products Used:
None, previously demo'd aluminum hardtails only
Bike Setup:
Stock...for now, except for the Time ATAC pedels which I swapped for a pair of Deore XT cages!
Bottom Line:If you're looking for an XC ride, and if you're lucky enough to find one in your size, jump on it.

Bottom Line:Bike was bought from a California shop for $799!! The ultimate price for a full-susp Carbon fiber ride! Holy moses, look at that price!! Same bike here in MI was had for $1300! I know I just asked the guy! The bike rules!! S-Carbon is ultimate!!
