Strengths:    ridgid frame, somewhat lite frame, good components, especially good shifters(grip shift 3.0 are very quick and responsive), a lot of bike for your buck

Weaknesses:    not so good front fork, weak rims front and back

Bottom Line:
a good bike for not so serious bikers with not enough money to go out and buy a thousand doller bike

Strengths:
Decent pricetag. I paid $299 for it. The frame seems pretty strong. (I'm 250 lbs)The gripshifters work good, but they take a little getting used to. (keep hands towards ends of bars). Great brakes.

Weaknesses:
stock tubes/tires punctured on 2nd ride. changed to HD tubes & Kevlar liners. Am pondering switching to rapidfire shifters. Haven't had any problems with the shock, but may consider upgrade after logging more time & serious miles.

Bottom Line:
I'm getting back into riding after about 5 yrs, and marriage & 1 kid. Its the one thing that will help with weight loss, letting off steam, getting out more & help control diabetes, among other things. I like the frame & can upgrade when & if needed. I'm happy with it. Can't complain for the price.

Strengths:
Good quality for the money
pretty good parts
nice strong frame

Weaknesses:
shocks
seat

Bottom Line:
This bike is good for entry level mountain bikers who have had little experience on off road. This bike also has very good quality for the money. I would not suggest bying this bike if you spend a lot of time on a bike. You probably want to replace the shock because it is horrible and has only about 10mm of travel. 3 chili pepers

Strengths:
Value for the money, I paid only $239.00.

Weaknesses:
The Seat is horrid, and I replaced it with an Avocet like the one on my road bike.

Bottom Line:
I've been a recreational road bike user since 1970, and log around 70 to 100 miles a wek on the road. Till very recently I resisted getting a mountain bike, probably because the one's I tried
seemed either way to expensive or too crude. I friend let me try his Raleigh with the same basic fork as the Schwinn and I was hooked. It's hard to find out much about this level of bike in the magazines. I was going to nuy a Raleigh M-50, but the dealer had this bike for only $239.00, and the bikes seemed comparable, (The Raleigh had a better rear derailer and brakes), but it was $80.00 more, and after trying them both thought I'd go with the Schwinn. So far I'm happy with it, and am still learning about off road riding.
From reading other reviews, it would seem that most people hate the shock. I do not have enough experience to compare it to anything else, but it doesn't stick or bottom out with me (180#)riding the bike. At any rate, this bike has exposed my to a sie of cycling that I'd never ventured into before. I get the impression that the quality of the frame is such that after the new wears off i won't be wasting my money if i upgrade a few components. I would love to hear any suggestions from others as to what things i should consider replacing with better ones when/if the ones on my bike die. If you have any suggestions, please E-Mail me.
