from Orlando, Fl Date Reviewed: September 14, 1999 | | Favorite Trail: | Ocala Hard Rock | | Duration Product Used: | 2 Years | | Strengths: | Frame | | Weaknesses: | Components | | Similar Products Used: | Nothing noteworthy | | Bike Setup: | Upgraded to full XT, Mavic 217's, and Judy XC at first (JrT now). | | Bottom Line: | Basically this was a good frame to start with. Especially noteworthy are the epi-center rear brake mount and heavy duty welding job. This frame assembly was partly influenced by Schwinn's short marriage with Yeti. This frame has survive many gnarly drop ins during urban assault, many rocky downhills, and some rim dessimating jumps. I even installed a double clamp DH fork (JrT), which throws off the head tube angle. This angle deviation puts extra stress on the welds in that area. I thought for sure the head tube would give and I would be forced to by a soft-tail. The frame has been indestructable. Couple this with the right componentry and you have a rockin' XC setup. | Overall Rating: |

from Binghamton, NY Date Reviewed: August 4, 1999 | | Favorite Trail: | unnamed | | Duration Product Used: | 1 Year | | Strengths: | frame, rims, seat, brakes | | Weaknesses: | stem | | Similar Products Used: | '98 Schwinn Mesa GSX, another great bike. | | Bottom Line: | This is a great bike. I have riden itmany times. The frame is very tuff, and can take a beating. I have given it a few. The KORE stem is a great add on, but I think the length makes the bike a little tricky in tight single track. Overall it is a great bike!!! I would recommend it to any beginner. | Overall Rating: |

from Arlington Heights, IL Date Reviewed: June 9, 1999 | | Favorite Trail: | North Country Michigan | | Duration Product Used: | 1 Year | | Strengths: | It's a great bike for the price. Aluminum frame, Rock Shox Indy C suspension. Fairly good components. Avid direct pull brakes. STX-RC rear, STX front deraillers | | Weaknesses: | Non-butted aluminum so fairly heavy though still lighter than Cro-Moly. Heavy tires and rims, and also the suspension weigh down the bike. | | Similar Products Used: | Trek 6500 Specialized Rockhopper A1-Fs | | Bike Setup: | Front-suspension Hardtail | | Bottom Line: | If you don't plan on spending more than $700 there is no bike with the same quality. | Overall Rating: |
