Favorite Trail:Caerphilly mountain - various excellent woddland trails
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Strengths:24 speed Alivio gear changer - nice and smooth
V-brakes good standard
Reasonably light for its price
Good handling for XC riding and trail riding

Weaknesses:Hubs tend to squeak
Wheel frames easily put out of shape
With a rigid frame you really feel the bumps
A bit scarey downhill at high speed and sluggish on the road
Similar Products Used:Diamondback
Bike Setup:Marzocchi Z4 bomber upgrade
Bottom Line:Much better ride with front suspension.
An excellent beginners bike with good standard specs
A bit on the heavy side but reasonably priced
Excellent starter bike for all round off-road use

Date Reviewed: November 25, 1999
Favorite Trail:
Morzine/Haslingfield woods
Duration Product Used:
more than 3 years
Strengths:
Good for introduction to biking. Now very keen and on my third bike.
Cheap, reliable, good overall.
Weaknesses:
Bit harsh as a rigid. Riding position too upright.
Similar Products Used:
Klein Mantra Race
Trek y33
Bike Setup:
Full XTR
Mavic crossmax wheelset
Pace proclass front forks
Hope proclass disc brakes
Syncros stem/seatpost
Continental tubeless tyres
Overall weight with above 22lbs.
Bottom Line:This was a good bike when i originally bought it, and has been substantially better after each upgrade. I have changed those components that i felt were lacking in the original bike, and now have just purchased a trek y33 frame to replace the remaining substandard component. This i hope should improve the bike no end. All in all a very good machine. What a baby!
