from Cambridge, UK Date Reviewed: June 15, 1999 | | Favorite Trail: | Brickhills, Bucks | | Duration Product Used: | 6 months | | Strengths: | Very rare! Cool shape. | | Weaknesses: | Piss-poor pivot Wags like a dog... | | Similar Products Used: | Orange X2 Santa Cruz Heckler | | Bike Setup: | Pace RC36, Stratos Helix shock | | Bottom Line: | I started out with an X2 but the down tube cracked by the crud catcher boss. So, Orange replaced the X2 main frame with the UFO. And, suprise! the UFO framed cracked last month. The 'self-lubricating' pivot was awful - it would squeak when hot.For a company which gets so much good coverage in the UK press (with a notable exception of the URTs!), their URT's are truly poo. I'd warn against buying one of their new designs to wait until next year to see if they're still on sale. Orange have changed their full-bouncers every year - proof that they R&D-to-production cycle is far to quick, not giving enough time to proper testing. I've now got a lovely Heckler, with which I'm currently in the honeymoon period. | Overall Rating: |
