a Downhiller
from cresskill. n.j. Date Reviewed: April 20, 1999 | | Favorite Trail: | irelands drop(on thruway)I | | Duration Product Used: | 1 Year | | Strengths: | It's really strong I've had the bike for 16 months and the component group has evolved to bring the weight up from 36 to 41 lbs. yet the frame seems unstressed | | Weaknesses: | I'm looking for more travel, the mountain cycle monocoque construction is a little easy to dent. It could use some internal reinforcement and maybe some replacable uhmw (polyethelene) bumpers I have a deposit on a first run karpiel armageddon with 9-11 inches (adjustable) | | Bike Setup: | Hanebrink 6 inch, with wide delrin bushing that I made myself. My company is called Think Tank.Think Tank ventilation fittings with hoses tucked into the Flying W cromoly 5piece 1.5 rise handlebars major strong | | Bottom Line: | Mountain Cycle makes an excellent frame ,although the dhs is no longer their flagship it works great. I've won a couple of expert level downhill races at Plattekill on this bike, as well as surviving numerous life threatening stunts and the frame has come through it perfectly except for a few dents. | Overall Rating: |
