Strengths: Newman design,decent OEM parts,cool paint jobWeaknesses: cheap fork model(Indy C),heavy OEM partsBottom Line: This is my 1st mountain bike and it sure has served me well (6yrs!). I weigh about 190-195lbs and this bike takes some 5ft drops with no complaints! It can be a little harsh on some bumpy/rocky trails (a better fork would prob help a little) but this thing is also very quick on the climb. It handles fast and loves to be whipped through tight twisty sections. Overall this bike can take a licking and definately turned out to be a good buy for me. With some parts upgraded (fork next) the Newman frame is a great performer and cang hang with some of the best hardtails.

Strengths: Beefy frame,descent running gear, killer value.Weaknesses: brake and shifter housings run across top of top tubeBottom Line: Great beginner bike. Took 3 years of harsh beatings and frame was still worthy of upgrading to XT components. The Indy fork was ok for a beginner although the boots always slide down. Switching to the Judy SL was a night and day difference. I weight 140lbs. Bike still looks awesome. If you own one or any bike with a frame so beefy and plan to buy a workstand make sure its jaws can hold a tube 1 5/8" diameter. I bought a Minura Alien pro and found the jaws don't clamp down on big tubes, 1 3/8" diameter max. It was also light and wobbled. The Park home deluxe is a great investment, holds the bike very stable, adjustable hieght, made of American heavy metal.

Strengths: sick frame.
very stiff.
decent beginner components.Weaknesses: small cockpit.Bottom Line: what do you really need to say about a perfectly executed design. i have tried alot of bikes, hardtails fs, dh whatever. this design is the best crosscountry bike i have ever seen. 4.5 lb frame, make a few upgrades and it really can be race ready. the best part is, i regularly take this off of 4 and 5 foot drops, the frame holds up fine. the paint faded a little over three and a half years, so now its an orange tie die. but it still does the trick, and i think now it looks pretty damn cool. get it, ride it, love it!

Strengths: lovely tight frame, very responsive to out of saddle burstsWeaknesses: can be pretty harsh on rough stuff, this frame has a low clearence so rock gardens are pretty much outBottom Line: Even though I got this bike at a steal price second hand (it would not have even seen 100klms) it has been a fantastic bike to ride. The reason for this is the personal adjustments made to fit my body so I could be a little biased. However "personal fit" should be a consideration for any bike you buy. Mine has the wired light blue finish and it has that showy "wow"factor, very appealing for a pretty boy like me. On the handling side, the steering is a little slow though, thanks to a slightly relaxed head tube angle and be aware that this is a lively bike on rough stuff. The indy c's on it at the moment are due for an upgrade to something better that some argue should have been made at the outset. For those how want a noble steed, its great just to kit up and ride it. The best thing about this bike is it has a great frameset that you can spec anyway you like.

Strengths: looks aggressive. somewhat light. very rigid. climbs wellWeaknesses: poor cornering, hard to handle on rough terrainBottom Line: this bike gets the job done, but is a very HARD hardtail. the back dances around on the bumpy stuff so much that i find myself using the brakes just to maintain control - no fun, i want speeed.
the bike's geometry places your weight farther back than previous bikes i have owned. this seems to make it a strong climber, but without enough wieght over the front tire i seem to push the front end through turns. i waste a lot of time and energy shifting my weight around in the twisties. my Gary Fisher handled a LOT better. the Indy C really hobbles this bike, im sure it would be more manageable with a real shock.

excellent frame. really stiff and very responsive.
good set up for the money.Weaknesses:
probably could have fitted a better quality fork, ie atleast jett xc. But whos complaining!Bottom Line: Overall, with the small upgrades I have made, the mongoose nx7.1, and of course with the great newman frame, this bike is race ready, and very capable of showing up a lot of the more expensive models from all makes.

none so farBottom Line: I bought this bike used and only paid $300 bucks for it. I enjoy the agressive styling of this bike and also it's low center of gravity during off road riding. IT FEELS LIKE A CAT POUNCING FROM DIRT TO DIRT AND CLIMBS LIKE ONE TOO! I would have bought one at it's new price ($700); I just got lucky finding one for $300. Overall I love it*** 5 flaming turds for this Goose!!!
