Strengths: This bike has a good frame, and thats about it. I have changed ever component, so its a good bike now.Weaknesses: that it comes with: Rockshox indy s, all components, crappy rims....... great first bike.Bottom Line: I really love this bike, its been very good to me.... and now its a free riding machine.

Strengths: Very durable. fairly lightweight. Good rims.Weaknesses: Bottom bracket went bad right away. Many of the parts do not seem to be 'upgradable'.Bottom Line: I bought this bike new in 1998, it was my first mountain bike. I'm a pretty big guy (220lbs) and I don't ride lightly. This bike has held up extremely well. I usually put in about 10-20 miles/week, all on local trails. Last month, Feb-02, I finally replaced the cassette, chain, and rings...not because they broke, but I just wore them out.
If you are just getting into mountain biking, this is a good starter bike.

Strengths: Lightweight sturdy frame. Good entry level mountain bike.Weaknesses: Crank and brakes went bad after 1 years use. Not a very depedable bikeBottom Line: I'm a little dissapointed at the fact that the brakes and the crank have gone bad after less than a year. It's a nice riding bike, but not too durable.

Strengths: As I ride a Mongoose DX 6.7, (I have ridden many dx 6.5's) I can say that both bikes are great value for money, the main difference is that the 6.7 has better components (rock shox indy c on 6.7 vs indy s on 6.5). I have also heard that the 6.7 is a longer bike. unsure if it is.
The 6.7 has travelled over 18,000 km and still going strong.Weaknesses: 6.7 Suffers 'Chain Suck' on original sprockets.Bottom Line: Recommend the DX 6.7 overall (for an extra NZ$200.00 it is worth it)
