-This bike have been accross the globe, Kazakstan & Kurgystan....it has punched through some of the best trails in the USA-Durango, Utah, Arizona, Cali and even loaded with 90 lbs of panniers and tour crap...still KEEPS on Rockin! Its strength....well what can I add! | | Weaknesses: | Some one boobed in the making and drilled a water-bottle mount-hole a bit big....so standard threaded incerts are a pain cause they wont grab the edge really welll...so for some years now I have had to Pull-tie the bottom part of the bottle cage to the dam bike...these days a big Russian language sticker of two stick-figures doing the "NASTY" doggie style and has the caption..."Stay off my ass" covers the holes nicely...I only need my Camel Back anyways...so no real complaints on the products weekness! 10yrs old Troll....riding the headset, crusty hair and way burned skin.. | | Bottom Line: | hmmmm, I have taken this bike about as far as any rider(normal) would do...jumps and bumps, bags and long distances...I have also been in contact with Steve for the entire time, about 8yrs to date...cause the first two year I did not need his help! The bike has paid for itself with performance and relative low cost...I have only replaced worn out parts...nothing to do with the frameset...only one iritation....rear brake is his own design and not very friendly, service to it takes patients and I would clasify this like owning a older Harly, `you have to love you bike and keeping it tuned to be a fan...I am looking at buying a Moonshot or another FS frameset from Steve... | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

downhill machine! the full suspension works great, and breezes through rocks. a great balanced bike with adjustable rear derailleurs for stiffer or bouncier ride. the geometry is great, similar to an ellsworth. it's hard to explain so go see it on mtbr's virtual booth. | | Weaknesses: |
i'd say there's an extra 5% effort on the climb. because the rear shocks are so good, you have to take the good with the bad, and that's uphill. the rear shock absorbs a lot of push and takes some energy out of your climb. you can tighten it up, but it's nothing like a front-suspension bike. | | Similar Products Used: |

McMahon bikes have got to be the best kept secret in the industry. I recently was turned on to them by a friend who is a total fan. I checked out the bikes on-line and then called McMahon to learn more. I actually got to talk to Steve McMahon and got a lesson in full suspension frame design-great guy! We determined that the Moonshot was the best bike for my varied riding preferences. I've had it now for 2 months and have got to tell you-this bike rocks! I've had it on a ton of different trails, have beat the piss out of it, and it keeps taking it. It is the most dialed ride I've ever experienced. A ton over the Heckler I just sold. Anyway, I was a little nervous about buying a non-leading brand suspension fork, so I asked a lot of questions about it. The McMahon air/oil suspension fork is tunable,tough,and rides like butter- I'm totally satisfied with it. The rear end is snappy as hell, and the Moonshot climbs like a hardtail. I feel like I got alot of bike for my money. This bike can't be a secret for long. You should look into the Moonshot. Happy Trails...New McMahon Fan! | | Overall Rating: |
