Strengths:    The Mantra is a sweet bike. It climbs like a hardtail, has 7 plush inches of rear wheel travel, and looks absolutely amazing! The drivetrain is great, but you'll need upgrades to at least full XT if you ride like a crazy arsehole. The best thing is the paint. These things look and feel like you have polished them with a diaper.

Weaknesses:    The Bontrager stock wheels die after about a season. I only weigh 145 lbs. and they had the crap beat out of them after about 4 weeks. Without truing/tensioning them, they will turn from sexy radial wheels into fugly peices of garbage in no time. Also, the cranks, bar, and seatpost are a kind of grey anodized aluminum (all made by ICON), and the finish seems to come off of them easily, making them shiny and department-store-looking . The Bontrager tires (semi-slicks) are pieces of arse. Oh yeah, the Manitou SX works okay, but it has queeeeeeeer disc brake mounts.

Bottom Line:
Great buy if you're not a pro racer, but still looking for a high quality, well-priced bike. Also, if you're looking for a starter level freeride machine, a smaller frame with a long travel marzocchi fork and a riser bar will do the trick.

Strengths:    climbing, cornering, rough terrain handling ability, ballance, style, being the only guy with the klein

Weaknesses:    it is heavy if you are a small guy, 160 lbs or smaller. People say that it dosent climb well. i think it climbs great.

Bottom Line:
This was my first real bike. I wore every thing out( the drive train). I replaced everything else with Lite stuff. Im a big rider, well for cross cuntry 225lbs. This bike is 27lbs 7oz, with LX hollowtech cranks, a Monkey Lite bar, and Ringle Sun RPM Lite wheel, and a SID 100. It will and go over and through anything. It has at least 12" of bottom bracket clearnce. I ride more through the roots and rocks, than I go arround them. I kind of punish the bike arround the trail. It forgives me everytime, its like instant ability.
