Submitted by Robert Johnson a Weekend Warrior from San Mateo, CA
Date Reviewed: December 7, 2000
Favorite Trail:Any
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $850.00
Purchased At:Summit Bicycles
Strengths:Great price. Light frame. If you don't want to spring for a Mantra, Karma is the way to go. A decent component lineup for the price and you get to tell people you ride a Klein (tell them nevermind the price).
Weaknesses:The first thing to go are the Dia Compe brakes, they always fall out of alignment. Also if you load up the rear elastomer in a bump, it'll buck you like a horse on the next one. The Indy fork gets progressively stiffer throughout the ride.
Similar Products Used:Klein Mantra, Fisher Sugar.
Bike Setup:Stock:STX RC crank, hubs and F. Der., LX R. Der., Grip Shift Attack shifters, Dia Compe brakes and levers. Upgraded: shifters/levers to Deore LX shifter/lever combo and upgraded brakes to Deore LX.
Bottom Line:Great value for a lot of full suspension fun. Get rid of the brakes.

Bike Setup:I've changed everything, almost
Bottom Line:I can whup up on anytrail with this bike, I wish it had a different density elastomer though, buy it, only 200 of them though

Submitted by Christian a Cross-Country Rider from Blacksburg VA
Date Reviewed: May 10, 1999
Favorite Trail:
ANY
Duration Product Used:
1 Year
Strengths:
Light, Strong, Relatively cheap,
nice looks, worry free bike.... 4.5 inches of travel, same main tube as Mantras, but fatty rear triangle that makes it looks like a Foes!!! VERY PLUSH SUSPENSION!!
Weaknesses:
Needs some upgrades when bought as complete bike, but the price compensates
Similar Products Used:
bunch of bikes
Bike Setup:
It has plain elastomere shocks (both front and back, hence worry free, no pumping no oiling, just bombing!!!!
Upgraded to a DH bar, stumpy stems, LX deore shifters SRAM Attack 8.0 shifters, Gorilla Boosters, Freestyle pedals etc etc...
26 to 28 pounds!!
Bottom Line:If you don't have the Dinero to spend on an expensive Bike, and want something that looks, feels and (very closely) acts like one of those xxx thousand dollar bikes, this is what you need.
Of course, you also get Klein quality Aluminum oversized framing, very nice paint finish etc....A very strong bike, nice Downhiller and easy climber (regardless of the plush rear 4.5 inches!)I had a dream about a bike, Klein made it affordable... :)
Overall Rating:5
