from Valdez, Alaska Date Reviewed: July 15, 2000 | | Duration Product Used: | 2 Years | | Strengths: | Good overall frame design. I actually ride a 3000 Same frame. good components and craftsmanship | | Weaknesses: | the Rear shock arrangement has very major flaw. after 300 miles the rear shock collapased in on its self. resulting in the need for a whole new rear triangle. the stock chainings suck. i am 230 lbs and a very agressive rider, i would not reccomend this bike if you are heavy or are into some of the insane sh*t that Alaska has to offer. | | Similar Products Used: | Trek Y5 Glide, GT XCR 2000, Kona Stinky Delux | | Bike Setup: | The Bike is completely stock | | Bottom Line: | if you are heavy do NOT ride this piece of sh*t | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Hampden, MA usa Date Reviewed: March 6, 2000 | | Favorite Trail: | Schenipset State Park | | Duration Product Used: | 6 months | | Strengths: | Not to heavy for 5 inches travel in the back. I weigh in at 29.4 lbs. I just recieved the phase 3 upgrade to the front fork, giving me a whopping 3.5" travel up front. Super sweet. | | Weaknesses: | Rims suck. Way too heavy, and the tires suck too. I went to the continental in the back and dart pro in the front. I did have to change from the stock 550 coil spring in the rear to a 750, but now I am hooked up. | | Bike Setup: | Stx/rc. I got the thing for 600 bucks. I ain't complainin'. When it breaks I'll put the good stuff on it. | | Bottom Line: | This bike rules. I do a lot of rock jumping and technical single track. I find the rear suspension helps keep the rear tire on the ground when climbing. And at 225 lbs, I need all the support and help I can get. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Gilbert, AZ Date Reviewed: September 1, 1999 | | Favorite Trail: | left-fork Bunker Creek, Brianhead, UT | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Strengths: | - Rear suspension/swingarm design -- well balanced, adjustable, good travel. - K2 Smart fork -- as plush a 3 inches as you'll find. - Good component mix - Easily upgradable - Price!! (paid $850 new) | | Weaknesses: | - Tires (Sedona Geax) -- just replace 'em. | | Similar Products Used: | Specialized FSR, Giant Warp, Univega DS 900 / DS 950, GT XCR 4000 | | Bike Setup: | stock except tires: Panaracer Fire Pro 2.1's . | | Bottom Line: | Best <$1000 bike you'll find! Bought a Univega 950 (for a steal), test rode a K2 1000 (just for kicks) and traded back the Univega 950 that same day! I'm 6'4, 210 lbs and noticed a BIG difference between the K2 suspension and other bikes tried. Front/rear are well balanced and flexible enough for controled/fairly-plush downhill with enough adjustable stiffness for XC. Good component mix but plan to replace the squishy Sedona Geax tires which don't bite well in turns. I love this bike! | Overall Rating: |
