Bottom Line:
I am new to the mtb racing scene but I expect to do quite well with this bike. I picked it up at my local Coast-to-Coast hardware store on sale for only $149. I couldn't believe that I could get an 18 speed mountain bike with Shimano components for only $149! Granted it doesn't have suspension but I plan on installing a set of Shawn Palmer limited edition Manitous pretty soon. I will probably do better in the downhill racing than cross-country since my new ride weighs in at a portly 42 pounds, but I can probably trim some of that weight by getting some kevlar tires and some titanium parts here and there. Overall this bike is a steal for the money if you aren't one of those wimps who cares about grams and brand names. Five chillies for the Mountain Challenger!!
Overall Rating:5
