Favorite Trail:Any fast and rocky
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $2620.00
Purchased At:On your bike
Strengths:Where do i start,
It is very fast,
it is strong,
it weighs 28lb,
it looks gorgeous
Weaknesses:they are getting very common
Similar Products Used:Kona explosive, faster up, don't come close down,
Marin B17, faster up, faster down, i beat my m8 down fort william
DMR trail star, the trailstar rips 4 tricks, but isnt as fast,
Bike Setup:Cove Stiffee frame 17.5", Shiver SC, hope M4's, Xt through, RF North shore cranks+ Rf rings, Rf System DH stem+bar+Xy seat pin, Flite saddle, Hope bulb hubs w/ sapim spokes on f519 rims, tioga 2.3DH fat 66 tyres, odi intense lockon grips, dmr v12mag pedals, irc Dh innertube on rear, conti xc tube front, hope enduro h/set, RF custom BB, Salsa QR's
Bottom Line:Imagine how you would ride a 8" travel downhill bike, you charge thru everything, thats how you ride the stiffee, nothing fazes it, it absolutely rips, i have rode quite a few hardtails and mine (stiffee) is by far the most fun, and fastest, i can go much faster than many of my m8's, on stright stuff i can wipe the floor with my m8 who had a orange Patriot. i am very pasionate about this bike and i love it, i have NEVER had so much fun on 2 wheels, sod full suspension, i'll only buy a FS when my stiffee starts to limit my speed and enjoyment, besides, i would rather ride the terrain and use my skill to go fast and not be riding a set of coilsprings, you may as well ride a road bike.

Favorite Trail:anything tight and twisty!
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $399.00
Purchased At:Cove Bike Shop B.C.
Strengths:This Review is for a COVE HAND JOB XC....SINCE MTBREVIEW REFUSES TO PUT THE HANDJOB ON IT'S REVIEW LIST! Ovalized top and down tube, steep head tube, built bomb proof or for what ever kind of riding you intend to do with it, This Frame will handel a 5 inch suspension fork!
Weaknesses:The biggest problem with The Hand Job was Coves listing of top tube lengths....they said the top tube was 23 and 1/2 inches center to center....it's more like 23 and 1/4....I just had to go with a little longer stem.....Also a little nervous at speed....may want to go with a shorter stem. Like all Cove Bikes....there stickers suck.....but who cares about that? It's all about the ride! Don't buy this frame if your a XC Weenie or if you count every gram that you add to your bike, there will be no need to apply for this Bike!.....this frame weights about 4.5 pounds....however, if you don't care about weight this is the rig for you! Paint is also sub-par....but again....it ain't about the paint!
Similar Products Used:Gunnar Rock Hound
Bike Setup:THE NORMAL BOMB PROOF STUFF LIKE....SUNN RHINO RIMES AND WTB 2.4 NANORAPTORS.....MARZ MRC 100 FORK.....SHIMANO XT...AVID BRAKES.....RACE FACE CRANKS AND RISER BARS.....AZONIC ORC STEM....VELO SEAT.....SCRAM CHAIN........KORE SEAT POST......YOU KNOW LIKE BOMB PROOF STUFF!
Bottom Line:THE BOTTOM LINE IS MTB REVEIW NEEDS TO PUT THE COVE HAND JOB XC ON HERE......THIS FRAME IS BOMB PROOF AND WILL PROBABLY OUT LIVE MOST STEEL HARD TAILS! FOR $400. BUCKS YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPOINTED!

Favorite Trail:
Secret Squirrel
Duration Product Used:
less than 1 month
Strengths:
Strong, bombproof frame
Very good components
Great handling
Lifetime guarantee
Ultimate combination of ride and frame stiffness
Ready for disks
Weaknesses:
A lb. or so heavier than the other bikes mentioned, but it's worth it.
Similar Products Used:
Trek 8000
Kona Kula
Kona Explosiv
Rocky Mountain Blizzard
Bike Setup:
Marzocchi Z2 Atom Bomb
Raceface Cranks
XT Hubs, front derailer, V-brakes
Gripshift 9 speed
XTR rear derailer
Raceface riser bar, stem and XY seatpost
Mavic X517 rims
Titek Berzerker saddle
Bottom Line:This is the strongest ride I've ever experienced. A very stiff frame that also rides very well. Strong, silent, solid--it feels like it was machined out of a single ingot. A real winner!! I recommend this bike to anyone who wants a hardtail that can take the rough stuff. By comparison, the Trek, Rocky Mountain and Konas felt flimsy. It also handles very well whether on a paved road or rugged single track; whether grinding uphill in the granny or screaming down a long sweeper in top gear.5 big ones for the Stiffee!

Favorite Trail:
Galbraith Area in Bellingham
Duration Product Used:
3 months
Strengths:
This bike is awesome. The frame and fit is incredible. The parts on the bike are top notch. It is incredibly agile and feels bombproof.
Weaknesses:
Bolt on small ring of Raceface downhill cranks came loose and scratched my chainstay. Make sure they are tight.
Similar Products Used:
Trek 7000
Bike Setup:
This bike is Dialed. It comes with a Z-2 bam which is buttery Smooth. Race face stem, headset, bottom bracket, DH cranks, and seatpost. The Wheels are Mavic 521 DH rims and they have given me no problems what so ever even when I flatted going really fast on a rocky downhill. I'm no light weight either tipping the scales at 215 pounds. XT shifters, Xtr rear derailer(sp), and LX front derailer(sp). And last but not least Time ATAC pedals.
Bottom Line:This bike is one of the best purchases I've ever made. Its frame is a work of art. I could try to explain it but my words wouldn't do it justice. And with the exhcange rate favoring the dollar so much the price can't be beat for a beautiful handmade frame. If you are thinking of getting a bike give this one a chance.
