Date Reviewed: May 7, 2003
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $1399.00
Purchased At:Leisure Lakes
Strengths:I've got an '03 Disc Specific Frame, 18" weighs in at 3.5lbs, very compact triangles, ultra sloped top tube 22" gives huge clearance and a not too stretched out ride positon, natural finish looks awesome, no paint chips/flakes to worry over.
Weaknesses:Stickers as usual, imagine if the decals could be engraved into the tubes!!! Could be a couple of ton cheaper!!
Bike Setup:Mavic X317 Rims on XT Disc Hubs, Various Tyres, XT Cranx, Eggbeaters, XT/Sram Gearing, Sram Shorty 9SL, Hayes HFX 9 Disc Brakes, Hope XC Headset, Thomson Stem & Post, Easton Carbon Bar, Pace RC31 Rigid / Marzocchi Marathon Forks, SDG Bel Air Saddle.
Bottom Line:The Brick Sh*thouse of XC Frames!! Builds up into a strong and light bike.

Date Reviewed: November 20, 2002
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $2000.00
Purchased At:UK
Strengths:Fantastic bike with awesome handling. Haven't used my (Intense) full susser since buying the Hummer
Weaknesses:None (except perhaps that the decals aren't that trick)
Similar Products Used:Litespeed, Merlin
Bike Setup:Marzocchi Marathon forks
Bottom Line:Handles a dream. Was very wary of going back to a HT but the Hummer has been getting awesome press in the UK so test rode one at my LBS (Two Wheels in Stourbridge). Fast, tracks true, takes a 4" fork, not superlight but extremely supple taking out a lot of trail buzz. Only rode it for an hour and a half before committing - and have now had it just over a year and would never part with it. The only thing that's pissed me off is they are now available disc specific

Submitted by Jason Edens a Cross Country Rider from Seattle, WA, USA
Date Reviewed: June 19, 2000
Favorite Trail:Mt. Galbraith
Duration Product Used:3 months
Strengths:Fantastic frame for someone who is into a good, strong frame built around technical riding and that is designed to go the distance. High bottom bracket, short chain stays, long top tube. There's enough room in the rear triangle that you can run 2.7's back there!
Weaknesses:You might wanna get something lighter if you're training for the Olympics.
Similar Products Used:Wynn, Cannondale, Kona, Diamond Back Hardtails.
Bike Setup:Z2 BAM Atom 80 Marzocchi Fork / Bassano Grimeca System 8 Disk Brakes / Syncros & RaceFace components / SRAM 9.0SL Shifter & Derailleur / Time Pedals (are there any others?)
Bottom Line:If you have overcome your desire to get a 22LB cross country bike that falls apart every month and feels like a road bike everytime you get in the real technical stuff, if you're sick of chugging around on a 30lb aluminum full suspension rig that rides like junk, then embrace the concept of getting an awesome hardtail that RIDES like BUTTER. Coves got'em, they're not too expensive and it could well be your last bike you ever buy.

Date Reviewed: September 24, 1999
Favorite Trail:
inspiration
Duration Product Used:
2 Years
Strengths:
Nice roomy top-tube, lots of stand-over, likes to be tossed into corners. Very stable and takes abuse. Great dirty Ti finish, cool looks!! Built by Sandvik-designed for Canada-nicest bike I've ever ridden. The name!!
Weaknesses:
A little bit heavy-but not built to be light-a better frame than its rider!!
Similar Products Used:
Norco Team Issue.
Bike Setup:
Z2 Bam's, Roox Stem & Bars. King hubs, syncros headset & post. Mavic 517 ceramics.
Bottom Line:This frame rivals quality of a Brodie Sovereign or Expresso, and it rides so quick and predictable. Tougher trails aren't to be ridden smoothly-likes a rougher style of riding-toss it into corners etc. gotta luv the Cove-they designed it right the first time.....

Submitted by Dave a Downhiller from North Vancouver
Date Reviewed: May 20, 1999
Favorite Trail:
Bitches Brew
Duration Product Used:
1 Year
Strengths:
Dame strong frame with great feel. Once she got away from me and took an 8 foot free fall onto a boulder , right to the top tube. Just a scratch to show for it. This is a life-time frame. The long top tube and short chain stays allows you to use a short stem for quick strearing.
Weaknesses:
Heavy for TI but weight wasn't a design spec, strength was.
Similar Products Used:
Canondale Killer-V,
Santa Cruz Cameleon
Bontrager Priveteer
Yeti Arc
Bike Setup:
Bomber Z3
XTR V-brakes
Roox stem and bomber bar
XT/LX drivetrain
Mavic 521 with IRC Missile/Cugo
Bottom Line:Bet hard tale on the market and the only one you'll ever have to own since it'll outlive you.
Overall Rating:5
