Was very wary of going back to a HT but the Hummer has been getting awesome press in the UK so test rode one at my LBS (Two Wheels in Stourbridge). Fast, tracks true, takes a 4" fork, not superlight but extremely supple taking out a lot of trail buzz. Only rode it for an hour and a half before committing - and have now had it just over a year and would never part with it. High bottom bracket, short chain stays, long top tube. There's enough room in the rear triangle that you can run 2.7's back there! | | Weaknesses: | You might wanna get something lighter if you're training for the Olympics. | | Similar Products Used: | Wynn, Cannondale, Kona, Diamond Back Hardtails. | | Bike Setup: | Z2 BAM Atom 80 Marzocchi Fork / Bassano Grimeca System 8 Disk Brakes / Syncros & RaceFace components / SRAM 9.0SL Shifter & Derailleur / Time Pedals (are there any others?) | | Bottom Line: | If you have overcome your desire to get a 22LB cross country bike that falls apart every month and feels like a road bike everytime you get in the real technical stuff, if you're sick of chugging around on a 30lb aluminum full suspension rig that rides like junk, then embrace the concept of getting an awesome hardtail that RIDES like BUTTER. Dame strong frame with great feel. Once she got away from me and took an 8 foot free fall onto a boulder , right to the top tube. Just a scratch to show for it. This is a life-time frame. The long top tube and short chain stays allows you to use a short stem for quick strearing. | | Weaknesses: |
