from Somerville, MA Date Reviewed: August 13, 1999 | | Favorite Trail: | Trail of Tears | | Duration Product Used: | less than 1 month | | Strengths: | Pretty much everything, Headshock Super Fatty DL, rear shock, overall value. | | Weaknesses: | stock brakes, coda cranks. | | Similar Products Used: | GT I Drive (various models), Giant, Gary Fisher | | Bike Setup: | Stock, except for XTR brake upgrade, Thomson seatpost and Selle Flite Gel saddle | | Bottom Line: | Took the bike out on a real trail for the first time last night. I really have no complaints at all. The weight in the rear because of the swingarm is a little more than I'm used to, but the extra control and comfort more than makes up for the weight sacrifice. This thing gets quite a bit of bobbing when climbing out of the saddle, but if you stay seated, you hardly notice any bob at all. The fork perform superbly (separate review), and the rear shock feels great if you keep it up to a little higher pressure than normal. I only give it 4 stars because of the crap stock brakes, other than that, after upgrades a definite 5 | Overall Rating: |
