Date Reviewed: June 20, 2002
Favorite Trail:Lebanon Hills, Eagan Minnesota
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $1700.00
Purchased At:Over the Internet
Strengths:Coolest looking if you get it in black. Lefty is a real eye catcher and functions just as well.
Weaknesses:This bike squeaks like an old rusty door no matter what I do or have done to it. I think it is the rear shock where it attaches to the front part of the frame.
Similar Products Used:Tested? I had to order this via the Internet because my local bike shops don't stock anything that costs over $1000
Bike Setup:stock from Cannondale except for the yellow/black Hutchinson tires. Added bash guard.
Bottom Line:Nice bike, has fit me well the last 2 years as I really get going with mountain biking. I started with a SuperV 400 - I admit I mostly chose the SV for its looks and reputation at first, but have found myself really enjoying how it performs. Being 6' and 190lbs. it serves me well from longer trail rides to more technical log and rock filled trails. It shifts like crap only 5 rides after being adjusted - I assume better components would fix this. If the bike didn't squeak so bad I'd really love it.. but that sound is the most annoying thing ever.

As cool as a lefty is, it offers a lot of limitations... like how I carry the bike - truing my own wheels.. replacing the wheels.. forget about removing the front wheel like you would with other bikes. I wish the lefty would take off with more bikes but it will probably end up going away entirely soon..

I might think to upgrade this year or next and will be sad that Cannondale no longer offers higher-end SuperV models. The Jekyll isn't an option - I've heard too many horror stories and it is uglier than... Perhaps the new Gemini...

Date Reviewed: August 18, 2000
Favorite Trail:mt.tapochaw
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $2000.00
Purchased At:hongkong
Strengths:It's great for downhill and jumps. The bike is baaad...it can climb the stairs...less bobbing
Weaknesses:It's heavy and it makes a sound in the front shocks/motor shocks.
Similar Products Used:Haro XE0 -
Bike Setup:Physically stocked - upgraded the seat saddle. Tires Panaracer Tires and XT components.
Bottom Line:Love the bike, it's great just gotta get use to the weight otherwise, it's well worth the price especially for a 200 pounder person - it's solid for the jumps and rock climbing.

Bottom Line:W A R N I N G , READ THIS BEFORE BUYING A CANNONDALE!!!!!! I have a Cannondale M900, it’s a couple of years old now but when bought it was one of their higher end frames. Recently I discovered a place in the frame tubing where the welder or someone at the factory had burnt a hole in the tubing & patched it with bondo. This was then painted over & you could not see it until the paint had chipped away much later. I contacted Cannondale & their field rep informed me that this is a common occurrence at Cannondale & in no way considered a defect. I’ve tried to talk to someone else in the company but keep getting the run-around. That hand-built American quality & attention to detail Cannondale advertises is BULLSHIT!! I WAS SOLD DEFECTIVE MERCHANDISE & THE COMPANY REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IS A PROBLEM.
