Myrear derrailer is a long body short cage deore xt (vintage 1992) it has full control tech kit , ti bolts and CNC machined aloy ballbearing pulleys | | Bottom Line: | I love this bike. i raced XC for 3 years on it. now she has 30,000 km (apx 18,000 mi)on it, it is my daly driver now. the sick part is even with my fenders on it is weighs in at a hair under 24lbs!!!! this is a sweet bike i can maintain 66km/h on a flat!! so far my top speed has been 86km/h(arround 52 mph!!!) so after 15 years and 18000 mi iI think I made a good choice
my only beef....the seat post is an SR T.C.O (tall cool one)it is a piece of s#*t it has creaked and groaned since day one, and good luck finding a good 30.2 seatpost these days. but at least it works even if it creaks | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

I bought the bike back in late 94.
Raced it, cross country, dual slalom, and downhill.
Worked on it as a city bike courier.
Used it as a daily commuter
Moved interstate with it
and am now riding it hard on the trails in Sydeny, Australia.
Am hoping to start racing it in Enduros in the near future.
I have completley worn out the original campag rims (they were very sweet rims). The original Marzochi shocks failed very early on (seals) and ended up snapping off at the crown. I have also snapped off the left hand crank (bike courier work is hell on bikes).
Last year (04) I started riding off road again, and have recently put new marzochi bomber shocks on the front (after riding rigid for 5 years) and the bike is awsome! Still going strong - and very comprable weight wise to new bikes.
Surley the frame will have to fail one day...It will be a very sad day when the bike finally goes...

I've kept the tires and rims, headset, the crank, rear cog, frame.

Crankset | | Bottom Line: | Bought this bike last year with all the old stock parts on it from the original owner- partially due to the kudos it received from this site. I have NOT regretted it. Frame performs exactly as I want it to (taking it out 2-3 times a week in a pretty technical area), and because of that I have taken the time to set it up with the right parts to keep it running smoothly. There are not many 5+ year old frames that I would consider riding, and this one should be near the top of the short list. Rigid enough for steering, flexes enough for the drops, and will ride this until I find an incredible deal on a Ti frame. If you are looking for a great beater bike that will take punishment and last long for you- this could be the one. Much cheaper to pick this one up used and mack it out than to purchase a new bike with the components I wanted. Will update if any problems arise | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

It can get a little twitchy at speed, due to my longish(120mm) stem and slightly narrow bar, but otherwise handles great. It flexes just enough to save my ass, and I have been taking some gnarly shit on this bike. It also looks much sweeter than my old frame, and nobody is asking me is that a BMX bike? I can't wait to get my Manitou Pro-C on there. I need to get some new dropouts, for mine are bent, but they're working fine right now. The seat QR kind of sucks, needing a great amount of force to tighten it securely(I use an old handlebar as a lever), and it creaks some, but that might be my cranks or BB, which I bent. | Overall Rating: |
