from Mississauga Date Reviewed: March 25, 1999 | | Favorite Trail: | So far, Hardwood Hills | | Duration Product Used: | 6 months | | Strengths: | Had some paint problems, but Brodie warrantied it and replaced the frame. And quickly too. This bike handles like nothing else. Have ridden a Rocky and tried many others, but the geometry is great for a 5' 6' guy and has definately improved my riding. I like a company that stands behind its products and so Brodie gets my nod. | | Weaknesses: | Bought a '98 Brodie Voltage last summmer. Within 2 weeks, the piant started flaking away. Horrible paintjob. By the sound of other reviews, Brodie better start improving its paint process. That an unaccceptable flaw for a frame...but: see Stengths. | | Similar Products Used: | Rocky Sherpa Rocky Oxygen Race Trek 970 | | Bottom Line: | Great ride. Poor paint. Good customer service. | Overall Rating: |

Everbody uses this page as an all-product-of-brodie place so I do the same. My bike is a 98 brodie kinetic, costs in Germany about 1200$ (no doubt cheaper in the US and Canada). The parts are a mixture from STXRC to XT, Ritchey pedals and an Indy XC fork - pretty reasonable and not exaggerated.Uphill this bike is a chamois. Downhill it's a little devil. The frame has a geometry which is extremly good for small guys like me. It gives you a very direct feeling for the subsoil. It seems to become a part of the body.I love this bike! The only thing I to criticize is that the lacquer is pretty poor. Buy a brodie! It'll become your long-time pal! | Overall Rating: |

Got a 98 Nucleus and this thing rocks!! Full XT except cranks, hubs and levers. That's OK, they work OK for now but I will change to better stuff over time ( already got the XT levers on) This bike handles like a dream. Like I'm sure you already read, turns on a dime and climbs like a goat!! Awesome colour too. One complaint, but that'll be against Shimano. Cranks are creaking. Can't go wrong with A Brodie.Besides, got to support Canada. | Overall Rating: |

I bought my brodie quantum as my first serious mtn bike. Other frames with similar price/components (trek, kona, giant) couldn't hold a candle to my brodie. I just think where i want in the single track I ride. it to go and it does. It's tough, it's fast, it's CANADIAN. I love it. | Overall Rating: |

For a guy starting out like me, one couldn't ask for a better frame. As soon as I upgrade those pesky LX's, I'll be good to go. Aside from being bright yellow, There is nothing else I can say against the bike. Owning a brodie kinda makes ya proud to be Canadian. GIV'ER! | Overall Rating: |

Since everyone is reviewing any Brodie I will add my 2 cents. 1995 19 Brodie Sovereign, best bike I have ever owned or ridden. Bought it as a used frame set, and over time had it built up for cross country in very mountaneous terrain. Frame is a little under 4lbs, decked in some nice Ti, bringing the total bike weight down to under 23.5 lbs. Bike is excelent in the tight stuff and climbs like no other. Only complaint is that the color white is hard to keep clean. | Overall Rating: |

Brodie Infinity: Awesome frame, LX and XT. Best frame I've ever ridden after riding GT and Rocky Mountain for sometime. Frame is extremely responsive, but doesn't feel as weak as the GT Avalanche frame I'm used to riding. LX is the only holdout on this bike, and after I upgrade those it should be a force. | Overall Rating: |

I bought a 1997 Brodie Expresso complete with Shimano XT & Syncros accessories. Man is this bike sweet. I chose the bright orange paint with upgraded blue decals. Aside from the looks, I have never ridden such a quick and responsive mountain bike. Previous to this bike, I had a Specialized Stumpjumper decked out with XT. The Brodie blows it away. I'm happy with my choice, so happy that I even named my dog Brodie. | Overall Rating: |

I just bought a '98 Brodie Spark and it KICKS ASS! Just as a note: I also felt that Brodie did kind of skimp on componentry. But if you don't like it, get the shop you buy it from to change it and requote you a price! If you're favorite bike shop won't do that for you, they suck. Shop somewhere else. This is the best design I've ever ridden for cruising, hammering, racing, or just poundin' in the Rockies. Five big flamin' peppers for Brodie! | Overall Rating: |

I own a Brodie Expresso 96 model, build up with my own choice of components. For example Syncros, Race Face, Manitou, Sunn and XTR. The only point of critic is the poor paintjob on my frame, only two months after purchasing my Expresso ( i actually broke my Catalyst and got this Expresso in place, very good ! ) the paint already started to drop of. Brodie is the best bike i ever riden, next year i probably purchase the Sovereign, Hardtail rules, Full suspension sucks. Would it be possible to order : -chainsuck device -team clothing And what would be the price of those parts ? If possible i would like to receive an brochure. Many greetings from the Netherlands to the worlds best framebuilder. The rating below isn't high enough, Brodie=Magic! | Overall Rating: |

Great frame at a good price. Parts spec could be better, but then the price would go up. I have a 96 Torque, and so far it seems to handle anything that I care to do. Can't go wrong, get a great Canadian made frame for a good price. | Overall Rating: |

I have a Brodie Expresso frame built up with parts I selected. It's one of the best cromo frames out there. The handleing is incredible, it can turn on a dime and leave five cents change. It's fast and also a blast to ride on the downhills. It took me some time to get used to its fast handling compared to my last bike which was a Rocky Mountain (Paul Brodie used to build frames for them). As you become a better rider the bike grows with you. It also has amazing craftsmanship; check out the welds and the cable stops on Brodie's high end frames. As far as their warranty goes they offered to repaint my frame when the paint started peeling (probably due to bad priming). You can't go wrong with a Brodie expresso or soveriegn. | Overall Rating: |

I don't know too much about the Infinity model but I just broke my four year old Brodie Catalyst this week. If you beleive that lifetime waranty story I have a bridge to sell you. I cracked a chainstay and the best they would do is offer to repair it at my expense. The Catalyst is handmade in Canada I wouldn't expect any better service on a broken Infinity that is made in Asia. | Overall Rating: |

Whats up with Brodie. They make some of the best frames around but then they go and put cheap components on it. I am presently upgrading my bike from stx\Lx to XT but it costs a lot more money than to get it put on when you firs get the bike. This fact kind of dissapoints me but i still love Brodie and its life time guarentee | Overall Rating: |

Hey. I'd like to get some feedback from Brodie owners (frame and/or complete bike) Thanks. As for me, i like the frame but the components needs to be upgraded cause i did get some ghost shifting with the STX and Alivio ain't that good eigther. The Quadra 5 ain't so bad for a beginner like me, but i'm already thinking of changing it next summer. What's good about brodie is that they sell you a good frame and then you choose how much you wanna spend on components, which is good since you can upgrade it later on, and they're from Canada! 4 stars on that. | Overall Rating: |
