It doesn't make sense to use this feature unless you are in a sustained climb. The fork is really heavy, I'm guessing just by holding it it weights a solid 7 pounds. Trying to overhaul it is damn near impossible. The manual is no help and it says fork maintenance should be performed every 6 months. Instead of a lock-out you can use the ETA feature which lowers the fork and the front end of the bike. My climbing game improved 25% overnight with this fork. | | Weaknesses: | Took a little time and money at the bike shop to dial it in. It handled my weekend at mammoth. never took it off anything over 3 feet, but it did well. there seems to be some flex in the fork, but havn't had any issues due to it. Takes everything I've thrown at it (3' drops, 4' log piles etc.)and asks for more. Climbs and steers very well.

This is my 2nd Marzocchi fork (had 2000 Bomber that still worked fine when I replaced it)and I believe it will not be my last. I weigh over 200lbs and I've not bottomed it out and with the coil in one leg and the air assist in the other, I didn't have to switch out springs to get it set for me weight.
The rebound is a little tricky because it doesn't let you set it beyond a point where it will bunch up on you. It's only a narrow range of adjustment and it's not really noticeable until you ride it for a while. Not a problem for me.
I enjoy being able to set the fork up for different terrain. If I know I'll be doing steep decents and a lot of climbing, I can set it to 130mm and use the ETA to shorten it 30mm when I'm not going down hill. This is great for one of my fav local trails, Slope Creek, where it's just a long down hill section and a little trails on the top of the hill.
Marzocchi just makes a great product. Very satisfied with my purchase. Would highly recommend for an all-mountain/trail rider. May be a little heavy for a serious x-country rider. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

Travel can be set between 100 to 120mm on left leg. Good range for rebound settings on right leg. And ETA is beautiful on climbs and roads. Do not forget replace oil after first 100 miles (or about 200km approx.). Critical is left leg, where ETA is. I'm using Motorex Race Fork Oil 7.5 - not cheap, but works better than Marzocchi original.
If you like riding in mud, buy brake hose holder ($6). When using original support, I thing hose is too curvy and too close to muddy wheel.
Left leg oil level is critical for ETA. If too low, ETA can suck air. If too high, You can not use full travel. Note , that when new, both legs are overfilled with oil, so when replacing put in right 130cc(milliliters) and in left 105cc. Try ETA - if works its ok, if no add 5cc and so on.
