Strengths: Nice stroke, tuneability, user serviceable, sturdy.Weaknesses: Not the plushest out there, rather heavy.Bottom Line: This review it's for the 2005/2004 model!!!
The only difference with a 2006 is different stanchion finish and seals on the newer ones, which according to Magura, makes it plusher (I can't attest it).
Very good fork for the price. As mentioned, not the plushest out there but it has tons of tuning options.
It has travel (125mm to 90mm) adjustment. It takes a nice amount of turns to go from one extreme to the other, but the knob it's at reach and easy to turn when riding.
Also has adjustable compression and rebound with lots of usable range.
It's coil sprung and you can order the springs from magura to tune it to your weight. I run it with only one medium spring on the right leg for my 140/150 pounds. The travel adjustment works with or without a spring in that leg.
Easy to work on. Craftmanship is top notch and has stainless steel plates on the IS mounts eyelets and drop outs, so durability at those particular places is ensured for a long time.
Open bath on the damping leg allows to tune for oil weight and volume.
