Favorite Trail:coed y brenin
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $400.00
Purchased At:winstanleys bikes.co
Strengths:uumm, says marzocchi on the side?
Weaknesses:everything.

they are no way stiff enough, if you take the wheel out and put try to twist the stanchions, they flex ridiculously. because of this, when you go round a corner at speed, or indeed round a corner, the wheel twists against the axle/fork and knackers the hub. aswell as the that, as it twists, the disk grinds against the inside of the fork and wrecks the disk, the disk wrecks the caliper and before you know it you have no front brake. your tires rub against the inside of the fork and wear your tires down. think thats all, phew!

it has wrecked the front of my bike and ive only owned the forks 6 months!!!
Bike Setup:saracen raw 3, x7 mechs, all else stock
Bottom Line:it came stock on my bike, but never ever ever buy a cheap fork. if your on a budget, by second hand off ebay. you get much more for your money and it is cheaper in the long run.

Favorite Trail:keystone park
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Purchased At:local dealer
Strengths:the fork gets soft once broken in but other then that theres nothing really good about them
Weaknesses:i didnt really realize a difference in the external suspension settings, the forks are way to flexible and my front tire wiggles side to side on really hard turns or in ruts, the fork always builds up really thick grease on the inner fork
Similar Products Used:manitou sherman, fox 40, marzocchi 888, marzocchi shivers
Bike Setup:specialized hardrock pro
Bottom Line:these forks are good for beginners but as they get older they do get softer but also the seals give out. These forks are not good for dirtjumping as the older they get because they tend to soften up over time to the point of needing replaced. The forks have unsatisfactory side to side stiffness as my tire does sway back and forth when im in really deep ruts are fast tight corners

Favorite Trail:Coed Llandegla forest
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $150.00
Purchased At:Hateley Cycles
Strengths:Good well controlled travel and are pretty much indestructable
Weaknesses:Do not really absorb smaller jolts too well
Quite Heavy
Cannot get the full 120mm travel(only got 100)
Similar Products Used:Rst AET
Bike Setup:Saracen Mantra 2 (Forks came with bike)
Bottom Line:These forks are very good value for money but if you want a fork that will take a large drop off and absorb small bumps, i reccommend paying a bit extra and getting a set of rockshox. All in all a very good fork and indestructable, (took it off a 6ft drop off fully open and its perfectly fine) Seriously reccommend them for beginner riders or XC riders.

Weaknesses:It is almost impossible to get any travel out of this fork. You have to hit bumps really hard and really fast to get anything. Worthless for anything not tarmac. Strengths:They look nice, do their job excellently. Very cushy.
Weaknesses:On my first pair of Mazocchi MZ Comps, they Stanchions (both) fell out, revealing the spring coils inside. IT was unfortunate that i was on the bike while it happened. But my second pair work fine. My first pair, must have had a manufacturing defect, or something. My second pair, work sweetly. There very beginer. There good forks, but if you plan on going big, spend the money get better ones. Otherwise, there excellent for XC, but i jump them.
Bike Setup:Norco Ryde 2005.

Favorite Trail:Windsor
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Purchased At:came with bike
Strengths:Affordable, otherwise, none.
Weaknesses:I read some of the other reviews and I agree; this fork is very stiff, even when set to the softest settings, but you can do something about it! If you find the shock stiff and that it won't sag like I did, open the top of one of the stanchions using a pair of needle nose pliers to grab what looks like only a special expensive Marzocchi tool can open, but it's pretty easy. Take out the spring on one side and replace the lid. Bingo, under my wifes 125lb weight, it sags and actually compresses when riding over bumps in the trail. Even under my 170lb weight, I was able to jump off of some curbs and never came near bottoming out with only one spring. While this is nothing more than an entry level fork at best, removing one spring made a huge difference in handling and comfort for my novice wife.
Similar Products Used:RocShoc Duke, SID, Psylo, Fox FL100.
Bike Setup:This fork came on a KONA HAHANNA I bought used for my wife from a guy who won it in a raffle. While a 2005 model, it's brand new (he never rode it). It's an entry level bike with Acera components, just fine for my novice wife.
Bottom Line:After removing one of the springs, this shock works much better, and while I would never put it on a bike for an experienced rider like myself, this shock works just fine for a novice. I'd never buy one otherwise.

Submitted by Phil a Weekend Warrior from UK
Date Reviewed: August 7, 2007
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:came with my bike, simple and low maintenance
Weaknesses:A suspension fork should soak up the bumps and improve the handling of your bike - this really doesn't and has nothing like 100mm of travel.
Similar Products Used:RST Gila, Marzocchi MZ2
Bike Setup:Stock 2005 kikapu except avid juicy 5 brakes & panaracer fire XC tyres added.
Bottom Line:Each leg of this fork contains a coil spring and a piece of plastic ("elastomer". The coil spring provides the bounce and the elastomer provides the damping (I.e. it stops the bounce getting out of control). You can adjust the preload, which either makes the fork easier or harder to compress, by turning the dials on the top of each leg. (Increasing the preload also reduces the available travel.) I am 190lbs and have the preload set to zero (easiest to compress and all available travel) but only get about 40mm of travel under normal use and have only ever managed 75/80 mm on hammering the roughest drops. This fork isn't really good for off-road, but it holds the front of the bike off the ground and gives you an idea what your bike will look like while you save up your dollar, sling this piece of crap and go buy a real fork.

Bike Setup:cheap iron horse quantum
Bottom Line:Don't get this fork unless you are just a casual rider that rarely goes offroad. It looks nice with the long travel but it really can't go that far. This is OEM, so it should only come with a bike. I don't know if they still make it. Many people here who gave 5 stars accidentally reviewed the wrong fork. This is the MZ comp, not the MX comp. The MX comp is a much better fork.

Favorite Trail:Fast Urban Assault
Duration Product Used:6 months
Purchased At:Came with my GT
Strengths:Looks great, Simple in design, soild and thick. I am 6'1" at 230 lbs, weight lifter, not fat. I'm glad it came with my GT...I can bottom it out while doing a fast urban assult run if I hit a serious dip, even with max preload. . . However, not often. this is a great low-end urban/freeride fork. Not like the Manatou' I've used that seem to have springs designed for no one bigger than a horse jocky.
Weaknesses:not many. for some it i too heavy, but I like heavy for the riding I do. lack of Adjustment possibilities. Scratches easily.
Similar Products Used:Manatou Trance, Rock Shox J1, Manatou Splice Comp
Bike Setup:GT Avalanch 2.0 Disc XL, 2.4 Maxxis Holy Roller Freeride Tires
Bottom Line:This is a GREAT low-dollar urban assault/freeride fork for the budget-minded. From what I've read, this shock is bad for light and/or small riders who do a lot of trail riding. For guys like me, or even for the lighter urban/freeride riders, this is GREAT entry-level buy. You probably could not do better at the price. NOTE- I think that the 2007 Iron Horse Warrior 4.0 will come with a MZ Comp with 120 mm travel, and it loses the current 2006 MZ III. That sould say something. I'm glad, anything less would be too soft. However, urban riders who are crazy enough to go on downhill runs at road-bike speed while dealing with urban dips, curbs, cars,..etc will welcome a stiff fork. on fast asfult downhill runs mountain-ike urban obsticles

Duration Product Used:Tested or demo'ed only
Price Paid: $115.00

Strengths:Stiff fork
Weaknesses:Too much to list!!! The fork was a pound heavier than my Fetish Cycles Obsession frame. The weight is definately a factor in handling as well as performance. The steel crown adds to the weight issue, and the steel upper tubes are old school...heavy and hard to maintain. The stock springs are designed for an OBESE rider. It is EXTREMELY difficult to get the fork to compress on any normal XC ride. Any rider who manages to get at least 3 inches of travel WILL either flatten the tire or warp the wheel eventually. Sucks that Marzocchi does NOT offer a spring upgrade kit [softer (100mm) springs]. What were they thinking???
Bike Setup:2004 Fetish Cycles Obsession L, SRAM x.7 shifter/derailleur, SRAM PC69 chain, Ritchey Logic 22/32/bashguard cranks, Nashbar platform pedals, '02 Rock Shox Psylo XC 125mm fork, Cane Creek DC levers, ODI lock-on grips, Avid BB7 160mm mech. brake fr, Shimano wheelset, Terry Men's Liberator Cite saddle, CNC dh stem 45mm, FSA PIG headset, Race Face Evolve XC ISIS BB, Sette XLR bar, Titec XC seatpost, Shimano 9sp cassette.
Bottom Line:I just threw away $115 for this crappy fork. I pretty much trashed it, and replaced it with my old 02 Psylo XC, which was much lighter, more adjustments, and more plush, not to mention easier to find parts. Trust me, MZ comp didn't get terrible ratings for no reason, this fork just sucks ass!!! Put another $150 and get yourself an all mountain 3, or a Z.1 drop off, or even the all-popular MX comp w/ eta, which I am saving up for.

This is 100% correct because theres a stupid rubbery-foam stick that sits inside the spring and is exactly half the length of the spring.

Strengths:Seem ok for Dirt jumping

Weaknesses:Although I landed pretty hard, I don't think the steer tube should have bent like aluminum foil
Similar Products Used:nothing
Bottom Line:If you don't land with one tire on each side of the ramp, then you should be okay.
I have done 10' to flat, and it didnt feel good, but they held up.

Strengths:its ok for cross country.the travel will bottom out after an eitht foot drop.the rebound is fast
Weaknesses:the travel is to small and it needs a bigger crown.the rebound is too fast
Similar Products Used:dirt jam comp rst
Bike Setup:miel 500 urban assault
Bottom Line:get this fork if you do cross country. but for anything else this fork sucks

Duration Product Used:3 months
Purchased At:Paradise Creek bicycles
Strengths:fairly plush, never bottomed out, feels great, very nice (and inexpensive) all around good fork (i cross country ride and sometimes some urban stuff)
Weaknesses:A freakin' coil and elastomer fork, no air preload or anything
Bike Setup:'05 Kona fire mountain (upgraded a lot)
Bottom Line:Great all around fork, but nothing you'd really want to go pro on.

Favorite Trail:Backyard
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $100.00
Purchased At:I forgot the name of da shop..:-(
Strengths:The "M" logo from marzocchi. hehe.. Springy feel. Good for dirt jumping.. The fork have good length, which improves bike geometry.
Weaknesses:Wow... 100+ mm sliders!!.. uh-oh. you can only use half of it most of the time.. duh..,
Pre-load adjustments are barely noticeable,
Limited adjustability.
Similar Products Used:DNM S-80A, Marzocchi Z.1, RockShox
Bike Setup:Trailbike, with 4.5in rear travel
Bottom Line:cheap but "quite" effective. When fork is barely new, I can use only a quarter of the supposed travel even during big hits, and that is on the lowest preload setting!... After about a year, I can now use half of it.. getting better ;-P..

Good for dirt jumping - hard to bottom-out, springy
Good at high speeds only - very fast rebound, not adjstable
Bad for your regular downhill - limited "travel"
Low maintenance requirements - MCU/Coil only
CHEAP!.

Favorite Trail:Lynn Woods
Duration Product Used:6 months
Purchased At:Came on bike- EMS
Strengths:Uh...little flex. It's fun to take apart...never broke.
Weaknesses:-Zero sag, I did a 2ft drop on the 80mm version and it used less than half the travel
-Plastic threads - had one pop out on my chest while on the triner.
-Bad name - Not really made by Marzocchi
-No adjustments.
Similar Products Used:Rockshox Reba Team
Manitou Black 120mm SPV
Bike Setup:2 bikes...no longer use MZ.
Bottom Line:It's crap. It must have had xxxx firm springs as I only got 1mm of sag. It's only OEM so you can't buy it. But if your bike has it, get rid of it. It has no adjustiblity. I hate it and the Reba makes all the difference.

Strengths:works on anything up to about a 6 foot drop maybe

cross country/freeride doesn't matter

quite plush for a cheaper fork
Weaknesses:squeaks for some reason

seems to wear out after hitting some drops but then comes back normal the next day

not very much adjustability

some crap RST fork
Bike Setup:Hardrock pro disc
Bottom Line:seems to be alright, for different applications, and i
haven't bottomed it out yet, so if it comes on a bike you get, probably keep it if you dont ride too hard
