Favorite Trail:Rockledge
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $185.00
Purchased At:Jenson USA
Strengths:First off...Im just a XC rider from Texas...so drink a Shiner Bock and read on.....I like these forks alot! They are excellent for XC riding and the coils soak up anything I can give 'em. They are very well constructed as compared to other brands dust seals and materials and these are not made in Tawain....These forks even ate some Alpine downhill singletrack in Colorado (Dyke Trail!) and 12 miles of HEll in Oklahoma with no problems at all....no bottoming out or excessive bounce
Weaknesses:none that I know about....had 'em approx 1 yr and still doing some fine tuneing...like 'em better and better as I ride....
Similar Products Used:my bike cam OE with ROCKSHOX Mag 21 45mm travel (remember those ?) then I installed some Manitou SX Ti cartridge later down the road....I will never buy Manitou again!! Probably go with FOX on my next bike
Bike Setup:1994 RALEIGH John Tomac Ti Frame, MAVIC CROSSMAX wheelset,SRAM MRX Comp gripshift, XT components all around, AVID BB-7 disks, RITCHEY COMP pedals ...hey..if it ain't broke....don't fix it!
Bottom Line:the bottom line is that this is a great fork...but get the newer '06 version as there have been some improvements.....for me these are much better than my bro's 100mm Manitou whatevers and to get the correct sag for me is only 10psi....now get up and go ride!

Favorite Trail:Southern Kettles
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $169.00
Purchased At:Jenson
Strengths:Cheap, Stiff & light weight (for this price range).
Weaknesses:No external rebound adjustment. It'd be nice to reach down on the fly and adjust-away...
Similar Products Used:I'm a Cannondale guy and there isn't any comparison to their (I use lefties most of the time, racing) stuff...
Bike Setup:03 Iron Horse Hollow Point, Shimano/Mavic wheels, Thomson post, Salsa stem, Frog Pedals, Xt Hollow tech Cranks, Sram 9.0 rear with road cassette and XTR front. X-9 shifters, IRC 1.9 Mythos tires, Vetta seat, Hayes Mech. disc brakes, Cane Creek ZS headset. DNM coil over rear shock with piggy-back air adjust preload w/lockout.
Bottom Line:Still dialing the fork in. Just want to add this blurb on the weight, it's light for this price break. It was advertised with a steel steerer but after checking it with a magnet when it arrived I found it to be aluminum. If you want a good, cheap XC fork I'd highly recomend it.
I gave it 4 for an overall because of the internal rebound adjustment. For the number of years this type of fork has been built there should be no reason for not having an external knob.

Ride Away!

Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $185.00
Purchased At:Marzocchi crash replacement
Strengths:Low key grey color
stiff
plush
Weaknesses:stiff spring rate for my weight
cheesy decals
lack of external rebound damping adjustment
Similar Products Used:2000 Marzocchi Atom 80
Bike Setup:Schwinn Homegrown Pro
Bottom Line:I got this fork to replace my workhorse Atom 80 which had developed a cracked stanching and arch. At first I regretted going with this rather than a rebuild of my old one, but it's growing on me. I like it a lot more now that I took out one of the coils and run 20 psi in that leg. With both coils in and zero preload the thing was bouncing off almost every root and rock, but now it's plush and smooth. I really don't like the lack of external rebound damping adjustment, but once I figured out which leg the rebound cartridge is in (not the one it's supposed to be, BTW) I guess I can live with it.

Favorite Trail:downtown street
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $250.00
Purchased At:Bungays
Strengths:nice and soft, haven't bottomed them out yet, surprisingly not that heavy, handles all sorts of bumps from small to big
Weaknesses:soft. it seems like they are going to bottom out but they don't.
Similar Products Used:Marzocchi Dirt Jumper III
Bike Setup:alex x-rims, kenda kinetics 2.35 tires, hayes mx-2 8" discs, norco rival frame
Bottom Line:these forks kick ass, these have handled everything i've thrown at them and they keep coming back for more. might be too soft for some riders, but for me they feel fine, all I did was tighten the rebound and now they are perfect

Price Paid: $320.00
Purchased At:with my kona
Strengths:good allround performance not very heavy i like the feel an ok amount of travel but could use more never had any problems with them
Weaknesses:not very adjustable to soft for my liking but still good for most people u have to clean and lubrucate them after every ride gets annoying.
Similar Products Used:03 boxxer world cup, rockshock judy tt, maitou xverts, marzocchi mx race
Bike Setup:kona shred alex rims.
Bottom Line:these shocks are good for most but not enough travel for me my friends thought i should soften them but i was bottoming out these badboys but other than that lubrication and cleaning them was the most annoying.

Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:supple on everything from small to big hits
Weaknesses:weight???
Similar Products Used:Noleen Mega Air
Bike Setup:K2 Razorback Team, '01
Bottom Line:I ordered the all air version and wondered why it didn't feel "right", so I decided to change the oil. That's when the springs fell out!!! At first I was pissed, but after I set the fork up like a coil/ oil fork, I was amazed at the plushness. I will never go back to all air. This fork is smooth as butter in all applications. The big hits are taken easily, but it's the small stutter bumps that are totally erased that impresses me the most. I love this fork, and for the price it's easily the best upgrade I think I could have made to my bike. I'm a Marz fan now...
