Can be free riden but watch for bumps if your running 2 yellow or stiffer springs.
remove one spring and add air to that side youl get more sensitivity with 1 spring and this makes the fork 100% more adjustable

Purchased At:came stock on bike
Strengths:150mm of travel, strong, comfortably soaks up all the big hits, and looks beefy
Weaknesses:Not very good low speed sensativity and hard to adjust witht the air assist.
Similar Products Used:03 Marzocchi Z.1
Bike Setup:stock with my 04 specialized big hit comp
Bottom Line:Great fork for what it is meant for, dirt jumping, other than that it is way too stiff. I went to a ski resort and it was great with drops and jumps but it bounced all over when I was going over lots of rocks. Like I have said geat for what it is called a dirt jumper and it is very strong and durrable like all marzocchi's are. If I wanted a free ride or all mountain fork I woul never get this. If I wanted a Dirt jumping fork, by all means, I would get this with out hesitation. I put 3 chilis on overall because it sucks on slow speed sensativity and bounces all over going over lots of rocks.

Strengths:This fork is beefy, super strong, no flex at all had it nearly a year!!! Runs super smooth doesnt need constant servicing, fit and forget!!
Weaknesses:Some people might find the weight a bit off putting but i was 14 when i got them took a while to get used them but once i did i was flying like a bird!!! They do rattle a bit though!!

Bottom Line:The bottom line is they are fantastic for what they are desighned to do and that is dirt jumping! Just pump them up and ur off!! Good for the occasional downhill aswell but are unresponsive to multiple hits though. They will undoubtly last for years to come as they are made from steel!! Can take huge jumps to flat or very dodgy landings!! Buy these forks if your after a strong, hard hittting single crowner!

Weaknesses:Clamp for the 20mm axel broke off completely. Almost no external adjustment and it is too stiff for the front of a freeride bike

Strengths:No Flex, good plush travel, takes all big hits perfectly!
Weaknesses:A little heavy at first, but i got used to it quickly. Going slow on small bumps, the fork is less responsive, but who needs suspension when your going slow??!!
Similar Products Used:RockShox Psylo, Judy, Manitou black, Fox FLoat
Bike Setup:Cannondale M800 (17.5), Deore LX plus a few nice extras.
Bottom Line:Coming from central PA i ride lots of xc (about 20-30 miles per week). I also go out and dirt jump and just ride on anything in town once or twice per week. I have read a lot of reviews on this fork before purchasing, and the one statement that rings true is that this fork is confidence inspiring. It has saved my ass many times on hard landings (that i fully expected to crash) and fast downhills.
The weight can be a factor on long climbs, but the performance of a marzocchi is well worth the weight for me.
Unless you are a beginner, or severely weight conscious, get this fork. I feel that most rock shox/manotous/fox shocks are too soft to do hard riding. I have never ridden a better overall fork.

Bottom Line:I finally found out how to make the fork feel more supple and smooth on small bumps, before I got a All Mountain 1. I took out 1 spring and the put air pressure only in that side. It worked out very well. Could go from very soft and smooth to more progressive and firm with different air presures! I would still have the fork if it were not for my awesome All Mountain 1 fork!

Weaknesses:qr20 quick release doesn't seem to quick - but it's not a real problem. it's heavy (if you can't handle it)

Bottom Line:this fork is sweet if you do any jumping or freeride stuff. great for weekend warriors and racers. i even use it for xc rides since i have no other bike and i'm as fast or faster than the people i ride w/ that have forks w/ lockouts. if you get it you won't be disapointed.

Bottom Line:if marzocchi could pull their headtubes out their heavily lubricated sphincters, they might be able to back up their product. it took numerous phone calls to find out how to adjust the forks travel, and once the forks bent at crown (my fault) it took close to 7 weeks to resolve. the first time they were sent back to me without the crown fixed, only the blown seal. i did not fret and only chalked it up as an error in communication. the second time i sent them back it took 3 weeks and numerous calls just to find out they would cost $110 and the marzocchi rep told me just to buy new forks, which is what i wanted in the first place, leading me to ask the question why had they not suggested this in the to begin with, since the labor and parts would bring the price such comparable to a Z(ed)-1 droff eh, the fork i originally told the rep i wanted if possible. so what i got instead were some sherman fireflys, only after selling my new marjokey forks for just under retail. damn, all this crap makes me want to live in a cave, deep in the heart of whistler, praying on the already doomed riders whizzing by on their marzocchi forks ( okay, maybe not 888ers and O.G. orange Z1 pilots) from my fully rigid steal beach cruiser/ A-liner. viva rigido. BTW forks worked great new!

Favorite Trail:The street
Duration Product Used:3 months
Purchased At:Spoke O Motion
Strengths:Excellent feel
Dampening is set up perfectly from the factory
6" travel as it came on my rampage
Everything below the crown is indestructable
Very laterally and torsionally stiff
Weaknesses:The weight (about 7lbs)
The steer tube is enormously beefy and heavy yet it bends
Similar Products Used:Tried Dj3, Psylo race, z1 fr, z150 fr, Sherman Breakout
Bike Setup:04 Rampage single speed, King nothreadset, alot of the weak pieces broken and taken off
Bottom Line:I really loved riding this fork, the feel of the compression and rebound dampening was perfect, it feels better than any other fork i've tried, its right up there with the z150. It is strong as hell and sucks up 6' to flat landings like nothing. Iwas perfectly pleased with the fork (besides the weight) until one day after a ride i noticed that my headset would not turn past 90 degrees in either direction. I took the front end apart and as soon as I held the fork up I realised that the steer tube was bent. I was shocked as I did not recall crashing in any way that would put excessive stres on the fork crown. Besides the weight and the steer tube, this fork is worth much more than it sells for.

Strengths:Stock on a norco rampage comes with 150mm travel, I think normal ones are 130 mm. Doesn't bottom out and looks sharp. 20mm QR
Weaknesses:Very heavy for a single crown fork. Sounds "swooshy" on small bumps -- if thats really a weakness
Similar Products Used:Manitou black, Marzochi dirt jump 3

Bottom Line:Great fork for urban assault/ dirt jump. Handles drops extremely well and has gotten me out of some trouble already. Can't bottom it out -- I'm 215 6'5", lighter guys might want to soften it up. I'd definately go with the lighter oil. Not the best fork for rocky terrain-- not too sensitive for small bumps (probably why its called a dirt jump). Air assist a little tricky to get right. If I were buying this fork straight up I probbably wouldn't go with a single crownd due to the weight. Norco gets these with 150 mm-- perfect for me.

Strengths:First of all, it's solid. It's strong and stiff and eats up big bumps. It's pluch and feels pretty good too for what it is. I dig the silver stanchions and the flat black sliders and the gold caps. It looks damn cool. The thru-axle is also a plus. Makes it a ton stronger and stiffer over a QR
Weaknesses:Heavy. I heard somewhere that it weighs 9 lbs. But I can get over that. Other than that, nothing.

Bottom Line:This is a great fork for the price. Like a Z150 for $300 less. It's plush, damn stiff, strong, solid, and looks the part. It's heavy, but this thing wasn't built for weight weenies and if you can't handle the weight, get stronger.

I ride everything, downhill, freeriding, dirtjumping, even some XC and trails. This fork excels on all of it, especially the dirt jumping. It's so stiff that it handles perfectly. I can say no bad things about this fork.

Strengths:Well everything is strong. I even had to remove the left spring it was so strong. The fork is good nice and stiff, except when u pull the front break too hard for long times, it tends to bend and twist a bit, but not a big deal.the stancions look great and the fork has a great colour.Good adjustability on both sides if u have a shock pump.
Weaknesses:Well there aren't any, except that its kinda hard to take off the front wheel, i guess it wont be stolen so its good. The oil that the fork comes wit is way to heavy, i recomend going to a lite oil as soon as you get it. Also i think the break mount is in a bad place cause the front break doesnt have much power transfered to the wheels.

Bottom Line:This fork is great for dirt jumping. I ride 10+ times per week, and I haven't had any problems with this fork. I highly recommend it to both beginners and experts alike. One of the smoothest forks I have ever ridden. It is a bit pricey, but definitely worth the extra money to upgrade from the DJ III.
