Strengths: high qualityWeaknesses: NONEBottom Line: My son learned how to ride on 2 wheels 4 weeks after his 3rd birthday on a cheep huffy 12". Riding is his favorite thing to do in the world and he is very good @ it. B/C he has progressed so fast, doing drops, wheelies, and big climbs w/ me I thought he was ready for a real bike but fit is a real issue when you are just 38 lbs and 38" tall. The fit was dead on, maybe a little tall, high BB, but he figured it out in the parking lot @ the bike shop along w/ the hand brake. The build on this bike and the quality parts would equal most on an adult's bike. AWESOME GR8 bike for a kid that is 3 to 6 years old!!!!

Strengths: Perfect size for my 4 year old son. Light as a feather. No confusing coaster brake. Gear ratio that let him keep up with the kids on 20" wheeled bikes.Weaknesses: None, though the integrated seat post/seat did come apart after numerous wipe-outs. Redline promptly sent a replacement, free of charge.Bottom Line: This was the perfect bike. My son dropped his training wheels at age 3 1/2 and was hell bent to beat Lance after that. But the bikes for young kids weigh more than half of a kid's own weight! Once my son got on this rig, he fairly flew. He conquered "The Big Hill" with full confidence and completed rides as long as 18 miles at a clip that made it fun for my wife, older son and I to ride along. At only 4 years old our family bike rides were covering significant ground. My 4 year old is now 6 and I reluctantly traded in the pit boss for a Proline Junior. It is a great rig also, but I will always miss that pitboss (should have had it bronzed and put in the trunk with the baby shoes).
Ok, so people think I'm crazy for spending so much on my kids' bikes--particularly my wife. I have no aspirations for BMX conquests for my kids, but these are the right sized/weighted bikes for them. They need light, well built machines not tanks with gears and shocks.
The fact is I shouldn't have to pay so much for this type of bike. The major manufacturers need to put them into production and change the way we fit bikes for kids. Start them early and they will ride for life. They will know the value of high quality and they will seek it in their adult bike purchases.
