Strengths: Stiff, weight, reasonable build.Weaknesses: Paint finnish not great - matt black colour scrapes easily.
Appaling rear tyre clearence. 2.1 with poor mud clearence. 2.1 is far too small for an MTB tandem. Too many pinch flats. This size tyre means you have to run with DH tyres and tubes if you ride anything rocky!
Oh and dreadful truvaitive BB. Both shot within 6 months.Bottom Line: Good cheap entry into MTB tandem, but the head angle is too shallow for big forks - 6-7inch, which ironically the MT2000 came with. I suggest 5" max to avoid flopping of bars in turns.
If you want to do serious off road buy a full sus with 2.5 rear tyre clearance.
Good value though

Strengths: Great looking, good fit and finish, strong wheels, good range of sizes.Weaknesses: stock saddles, tires [both easily changed]Bottom Line: This is a really nice tandem for casual/family type use. I bought a large/ small size which allows my 8 and 9 year old to ride in the back [albeit with the seatpost all the way down]. The wheels could hold up a tank but are still not too heavy. I was lucky enough to find an identical wheelset on e-bay a few weeks after I bought the bike which I snatched up. Having a second set of wheels with road tires makes a lot of sense with this bike- lets face it- few people are going to do any serious off roading on a tandem. But for rail trails [ God bless the Virginia Creeper trail] and greenbelt type trails, this thing is really enjoyable. I even have a double trailer bike that I have attached to it so me and my 3 boys can ride together-sort of a poor man's quintuplet. Everbody stops and stares! the kids just love it. The brakeset seems like a cost cutter-maybe not a good idea if you ride in steep country. But they work fine for the terrain I take this on.The stock captain's saddle[fizix nisene] is the worst thing I've ever set my A dubble S on- I'd rather ride on a bare seatpost. But most of us change saddles to our favorites anyway. Bottom line is it's a nice package if you are looking to get your kids or significant other out on the trail with you. It's probably not a bike that will see a lot of miles put on it- just a lot of smiles.
