Strengths:    Frame, black anodized look, mechanical disk breaks, comfortable ride

Weaknesses:    crap wheels (spokes/tires/rims, bottom bracket

Bottom Line:
This is for the 04 disc pro. Great black anodized 19" frame, looks fantastic, very comfortable ride as well especially with riser bars (it came with). When I got it one of the cranks were bent... the LBS guys thought I crashed but it came that way. Specialized sent the replacement parts but the bottom bracket was always squirrelly even afterwards. I talked to a guy who owned a Rockhopper comp and he had clicking issues with the bottom bracket as well, so it might have been common.
After about 6 months I blew out all spokes and had them changed to stainless (they are steel stock...) but after another year the rims sucked and I blew out the back and replaced it with a $200 mavic which ruled. The front rim was also toasted, warped and had a flat spot but the bike was stolen last week so I never got to replace it...
The bike needed lots of tune ups and the gears always skipped as well.
All in all I wish I still had it as I was about to start replacing the crappy stock parts...
Might have been a bit expensive considering the amount of parts that should be upgraded. I wish I still had the frame and the breaks and my new rim. If you are larger and heavier, you might want something else (I am 6"3" and 230 lbs)

Weaknesses:    Paint job on this bike is poor. Had problems with the Juicy brakes being defects, but Avid replaced them since they put defective parts on the bike. All in all, still not a fan of the Juicy 3 brakes.

Bottom Line:
Good bike, poor paint quality

Strengths:    It's all good.

Weaknesses:    Tires wore quickly. After about 8 months the back tire needed to be replaced.

Bottom Line:
This is a great bike for the trails and great for riding the road until you get there. I live in the city so unfortunetaly most of my miles are actually on the road but this bike is great on the trails also.

Strengths:    This a review for the 05. Everything is great. I got a good deal on it and i dont have to worry about anything. the deraillers are pretty good it'll let me shift when im pounding up hill and it has a very smooth switch

Weaknesses:    The seat which is horrable and it should be replaced asap

Bottom Line:
Awsome bike for the price very durable and just a great all around bike. A little on the heavy side but its worth it for the better frame.

Strengths:    Disc brakes rule, lightweight, cool color, super smooth ride, and great trail performance

Weaknesses:    None really, maybe makes others feel bad about their bike,

Bottom Line:
I have the '04 rockhopper, and it is great, I ride to campus 10 miles(rt) everyday, and it is such a smooth enjoyable ride on the road, yet can take some punishment off-road. I put about 90 miles a week on the bike and no problems, it is a work horse. Plus I got it on sale.

Strengths:    Great Sh. breaks, drivetrain, appearance.

Weaknesses:    None that I can see.

Bottom Line:
Best bang for your buck. Can't beat the price when it comes to what you get. I have ridden the $hit out of the bike, and deliberately hit rocks and curbs head on (without hopping) to test the shocks. It makes it through my hard testing. I weigh 200 lbs and the 19 inch bike handles fine with me.

I would get it again if given the choice.

Strengths:    Excellent A1 double butted frame. Powerful and reliable discs. Very light frame weighing in at 3.4lbs. Colour is awesome!

Weaknesses:    Tyres are crap! I put soem Continental Cross Country tyres on mine and provides incredible traction.

Bottom Line:
Absolutely brillaint bike. On paper the only other model in the hardtail range that can beat it is the SWORKS Stumpjumper and Stumpjumper Pro.

Strengths:    Strong, light Bike. DISC BRAKES!!! Seems to climb hills alot better than my other bikes.

Weaknesses:    Haven't found any yet.... I think the seat is a little uncomfortable sometimes when I've been riding for a while. I'm a heavy guy and sometimes the front fork seems a little too soft... (but this is also a good thing since the ride is very smoooth)

Bottom Line:
I love this bike.... it puts to shame anything I've riden before.... last year I bought a Gary Fisher and I broke it every 2nd ride (I hated that bike.. heavy, fragile and slow). This is a real mountain bike... I throw it off jumps, ride through mud and generally bash this bike around and soo far it has handled everything and impressed me by how light and nimble it is. DISC Brakes rock!!
