Weaknesses:It could use hydrolic disc brakes but everything else is awsome

Bottom Line:this bike is great with a few upgrades like better forks and hydro's this is a nice ride. I am planning on some Hayes HFK-mag DH 8 inch brakes, a DMR ultraspeed 2 chain guide, and a 24 inch sun doublewide rim with a big fat nokian Gazzalodi to top it all off

Price Paid: $890.00
Strengths:frame-very strong, well balanced, great geometry, unique color

fork-perfect travel for dirt jumping, very easy to use, looks kick@ss

brakes-take time to burnish but other than that, stop well and very easy to use

crankset-very strong

pedals- replacable pins, durable

rims-not the strongest but can deal with a fair amount of beatings

Weaknesses:rear rim- i personally would have liked to seen a 24" in the rear

derailers-not top of the line, but certainly good quality

seat- this is my ONLY MAJOR COMPLAINT! the seat is so uncomfortable. to be honest it looks bad too
Similar Products Used:Norco Rampage,Kona Scrap

Bottom Line:AWESOME BIKE!!!!this bike is ready for anything u throw it.Norco shore hardtails are awesome bikes and this certainly is not an exception. some componants are not top of the line, but for the price, deffinetly worth it.obviously if someone wanted a norco like this but with better components, theres the other shore hardtails.i bought this bike because i was just getting into dj/urban/freeride and i didnt want to get the top of the line.great bike to learn stuff on, but then again this bike is just waiting to be decked out with better components later.this bike is awesome for any kind of mtb riding other than xc. this bike is built to last and i would suggest it to anyone other than an xc rider.

Submitted by reconone a from Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Date Reviewed: October 23, 2003
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $1300.00
Purchased At:cycleworld vancouver (CAD dollars)
Strengths:-frame is soo stiff and strong
-rims take a beating and keep on spinning smooth
-great front shock (DJ-III) with positive air preload so you can pump it up for a big hit
-crankset is very strong with no flex
-8inch discs
Weaknesses:-lack of rear tire clearance!!!!!!
-very bad shifters, I upgraded to 8-spd XT shifters from jensonusa for $50
-brake levers also suck for disc brakes no power, upgraded to shimano LX levers for $10 from jensonusa
-haynes mech discs have limited adjustments regarding caliper position, front and rear discs would rub on caliper (right out of the box)
-color paint coat is very thin and any impact turns it white
-needs a bigger sticker saying SASQUATCH
Similar Products Used:98 sasquatch, 01 norco nitro
Bike Setup:upgraded to XT shifters, LX brake levers and teflon cables
Bottom Line:Indestructable bike. It can take a crash and keep going. Rims are very stiff and strong. Very stable.

Could use more rear tire clearance!!! I tried putting on a 2.4 fire DH and at 30PSI the tire rubs on the rear frame. It runs ok at 25psi tho. Front has lots of clearance.

I pulled the shifters and brake levers off right away, they really sucked (bottom line 8-spd deore) and the handlegrips got in the way of the original shifters (put on a set of ODI lockjaw grips). I also was hitting a lot of mud and water and the brake/shifter cable seized after a few days, after replacing with teflon cable I haven't had a problem (4 months now)

Front shock is awesome, very strong and able to take impacts without flex. Adjustable air preload lets you stiffen the shock easily. Cranks are very strong and make for solid riding.

I originally did a lot of XC riding and was concerned about weight ~32lbs, but after riding this around and realizing how I can do anything to this bike and not worry about it the weight isn't a big issue anymore. I do a mix of XC and dirt jumping with it.

I'm taking off a chilli on the value rating b/c I had to upgrade shifters/brake levers and the OEM cable sucked.

The BASH ring on the crank is awesome.

Price Paid: $1300.00
Purchased At:alpinebikes, glasgow
Strengths:Tough frame (love the colour), great fork and chainset, well balanced ride - feels like a big BMX and totally indestructable! hayes 8' discs.
Weaknesses:Some poor quality components (hubs, shifters and front mech), crap saddle and paint quality is poorer than any other bike I have owned. Heavy (very!) and little tyre clearance.
Similar Products Used:Kona, plus my much lighter (and weaker) DBR
Bike Setup:Standard except for DMR V8's and Titec saddle, Nokian tubes and soon to replace shifters with Avid brakes/Deore shifters.
Bottom Line:Excellent for very hard XC (ab)use and north shore riding. Takes jumps and drops like a full susser and will never break. Tubes are crap - replace with DH ones (I punctured 3 times in a week). Saddle needs changed straight away or you will kill your backside. Best bike I have ridden, kills you on long XC rides but makes life way more fun - buy some armour!

Dont let the weight put you off - if you buy one bike make it this. Fork is great but the finish needs to be tougher on the paint as this bike is bound to get hit with rocks, the positives outweigh the negatives and its great value.

Price Paid: $1100.00
Purchased At:Bike Doctor (Canadian Dollars)
Strengths:Super strong frame, rims, fork, everthing. Even with my beginners technique I haven't wrecked anything yet, after I land a jump I always make sure everthing is still straight and true, always is. Kenda tires really hook up, it just rolls over everthing in it's path. Also love the Hayes 8" mechs and the DJ3 is awesome
Weaknesses:The original seat was an instrument of toture. The Wellgo platform pedals were junk and only lasted me a couple of weeks before the bearings packed it in. Also there is serious lack of tire clearance, mostly on the rear.
Similar Products Used:Trek 4300, Cannondale F1000, really not similar the Norco is a freeride bike.
Bike Setup:Small frame (I'm 6ft tall and it feels fine to me) Selle Italia Trams Am saddle, Roach chainstay protector, and 1664 BMX pedals which so far are awesome, they look great and haven't broke yet either.
Bottom Line:Good, strong bike for a rider who wants to get into jumping, freeriding, much cheaper then full suspension so you don't have to be as concerned about piling it up, even so it will take it anyway.

Norco should increase the Tire clearance for their Norco Hardtail shore bikes when using 26" wheels... So there's no need to worry for 24" tire clearance... Favorite Trail:Toronto Urban
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $1378.00
Purchased At:Cycle Solutions Scarborough, (CAD w/tax)
Strengths:-strong and beautiful frame, lots of attention to detail
-strong fork, air adjustable preload, stiff, plush, can change dampening by toying with oil weights, heights
-triple wall welded alloy bmx wheels (strong, regardless of what these fools say)
-beefy bars, stem, heavy duty seat post and clamp (won't strip)
-2003 hussefelt cranks are great
-hayes 8" mechs are powerful and have good feel and modulation
-dealer was great
Weaknesses:-bike wasn't completely up to spec (shifters were easy-fire instead of rapidfire, tires were cheap low profile innovas instead of kenda kinetics, hubs weren't the deores, blah, blah, blah)
-rear tire clearance won't allow tires much bigger than the spec'd 2.35's. if you wheel gets tweaked a bit, or more likely, your tires bead isn't sitting perfectly in the rim, the tire might rub
-the cranks started creaking (remounted them, creaking gone)
-hayes 8" disks sometimes rub pads/caliper body.
not enough fixed pad adjustablility to correct this. i don't care though. i'm too busy having fun.
Similar Products Used:hahaha. that's a good one. well, i was riding my nice XC race bike, doing urban and north shore style stuff (xc racing sux)

then i folded that ride up at local dirt jumps one night, about 9 days ago.
Bike Setup:-large size (i'm 6'3", 175 lbs)
-non OEM kenda kinetics (orange sidewalls), soft compound (for riding them skinnies)
-XTR rear mech, XT shifters, XT levers
-7 psi in fork
Bottom Line:i'm a bike mechanic and a damn gutsy rider, if i may say so. people wailling on the components on this bike should learn how to ride. i did a 10, maybe 11ft launch yesterday in mel lastman square-the same day i picked the bike up, and similar stuff for a couple hours. lower your seat and absorb the hit with your body travel-knees and legs. if you do this everytime pretty much perfectly, you won't be tweaking these wheels-they're strong.
if you have some problems with the bike, take it to a good mechanic. the gears not working perfectly and the wheels being slightly tweaked means that it needs to be tuned, not downrated. cables and spokes stretch after breaking in (a few hours riding) and will need to be tuned.

some stuff wasn't up to spec-this was norco's fault, not the dealers'. norco ran out of some parts, and what you get is the result. my dealer was pretty good about this though, and threw some nice kenda's my way.

the other misspec'd stuff was replaced by myself anyhow. XTR/XT from my dead xc bike make this thing suitable for the DH races coming up next week in North Bay.

the cranks started creaking really bad today, but removing them, cleaning the splines (both male and female) regreasing with heavy Park grease and torquing them to their spec'd 43-48 Nm stopped that.
probably caused by debris (sand/metal shavings)

bottom line:

i've been freeriding for more than 4 years now-on an xc race bike. going big on that bike without breaking it for all those years really helped me develop my skills. when it broke last week, i was short on cash, so while i would have liked a norco torrent, or a brodie holeshot, or a custom ride built by yours truly, in the end, all i could afford was the sasquatch. but guess what? it rides pretty much the same as the big dollar bikes.

the moment i hit the streets i felt über-confident on this bike. i ended up doing some pretty ridiculous stuff as a result. its good not having to worry about smashin the fork, and folding up the wheels and frame.

buy one of these, (if you can still find one, they're really scarce now) and upgrade it later if you're tight on cash.

you won't regret it.
(unless you're a no skill poseur loser)

now ride.

Strengths:Fork is great for jumping ok on drops and roll downs, the pedals are goo grip and cranks are beefy. The brakes are good i think! they are good for technical but not for downhill. the front tire is good traction. the frame is really beefy and i feel secure on it.
Weaknesses:the seat is horrible it is so hard. the handle bars vary on bikes but mine are the axiom and they rise then lower maybe a default. the shifters are good at times but they gave out once.the shifter sux and so does derailleur but overall nothing major.OH YAH THE GRIPS ARE SO BAD I BOUGHT NEW ONES WITHIN A WEEK OF USE.
Similar Products Used:the kona scab, brodie holeshot, sinister, 243.
Bike Setup:medium frame w/ marzocchi 2003 DJ 3's and diaboulos stem and buying new easton monkey bars custom 3.0 rise. Yeti ODI lock on grips. shiman alivio shifters and levers..getting new GRC shortys levers. 26" kenda kinetic in front 2.5 and a 24" Doubletrack with a stout 2.7. hayes mech disc 8". pedals wellgo upgraded to atomlab aircorps. shimano hubs. double rock ring soon and a DMR chain guide/tensioner.
Bottom Line:this bike is on the heavy side of freeriders but as a hardtail rider i dont like a light bike. i dont weigh much so finding the ground isnt very hard. i dont ride street because it sucks for it but i ride jumps and tracks and it loves berms. anything rythm it will eat up and n e drop it will take. i cant say i wouldnt want another bike but if your sugar momma aint made of dough or if u dont have a money tree out back with your weedy tree then this bike is great for whatever purpose you make it for.

Weaknesses:Maybe the rims are a bit mediocre.

Bottom Line:This bike has GREAT components for its price (the price i listed is Canadian.) Overall the perfect bike for my liking. It's my first day on the sasquatch but i took a 5 fotter to flat and The DJ3 soaks it all up, if you land right it is the most amazing feeling. i know im sounding like a hippie but really TRY THE SASQUATCH!

Strengths:The frame rawks! The shape is sick. I'm only 5'9" but the large-size frame isn't too big. The DJ3s are great value for money.
Weaknesses:Tubes do suck.. had two punctures in it.. same ol' miss timed mono-hop deal.
Bike Setup:Azonic DH bar / shorty stem, single chain ring, full Deore and XT rear derailer.
Bottom Line:I got a m-a-d deal from the great people at Bike Now in South Melbourne. The look of the bike is awesome. Such a machine for tearin' it up or just putting out the vibe. The bike's not _the_ lightest but you can still mono-hop a couple of milk crates and stuff. (Haven't had time to launch it off bigger jumps yet).

Strengths:Increadble!!!! the bang for the buck factor is HUGE! this bike just asks *please jump me, please drop me, please catwalk me* :) increadble, all the parts interact each other so well, it just fits and clicks. the frame looks increadble only needs a little work to be turned into a sick fr/dh bike
Weaknesses:rear tire clearance in HORRIBLE! with a 26" rim all that will fit is 2.35(comes stock) with a 24 they have allowed for more space possible a small 2.6. same with the DJ3 only a 2.5 will fit (marzzochis fault not norco) and the paint chips easily along the chainstay. MAKE SURE YOU GET A LIZZARD SKIN!

Weaknesses:seat, Grips, tire clearence
Similar Products Used:Trek bruiser but not to similar sasquatch is a lot better
Bike Setup:stock except, seat and odi lock ons
Bottom Line:I really like the bike. It is a little Heavy but you cant feel the weight at all in the air. Really solid, easy to manual, i cut down the bars a 1/4 inch from each side and put some odi's oon it. the seat isnt very comfortabel but nuthin big. This bike has made me jump alot higher and have more confidence than ever before. The dirjumper 3 seems really stong and looks it to becasue of 32 mm stantions. The bike is really stable at high speeds and hope to dh race with it this summer. second day i hadd it i was going bigger then ever before. it took me 4 months to decide on this bike. I started with it and ended with it. I went through every bike and ended up with this one. They run big and i am 5'10 and the meduim fits good aand will give me a good amount to grow. a medium has 23 inch top tube which gives me plenty of cockpit clearence. This bike is great!

Bottom Line:This bike is a Tank! It rides over anything, it takes a pounding, and it keeps on rolling. The fork is simple and works great. The mechanical disk brakes don't have quite the sweet feel of hydraulic, but have plenty of braking power and are easy to work on. The frame rules! The rest of the parts are budget, but seem to work well and fit together nicely. This is a great overall package! An excellent play bike at a great price.

Bottom Line:Sweet bike. Can withstand my 230lb frame smashing down a 6 foot cement drop. Rim didn't survive a misstimed bunny hop onto a curb but it's easily replaced. Grip style was useless, on the right side it has a bit of trim on the inside which twists to block the rapid fire shifter. The rear tire clearance isn't very good for the stock tire. Doesn't sound like a good review but it is a good bike, I'm just negative.

Strengths:FANTASTIC Frame, Great suspension, Cool cranks and pedals. CHEAP! Brakes that really work.
Weaknesses:Rims...
Similar Products Used:Diamondback Vectra (XC bike).
Bike Setup:Completely stock
Bottom Line:I ordered this bike from Cycle-solutions and a friend put it on a plane to South Africa. I was impressed ht emoment I took it out of the box. The frame is beefy and the setup feels great. The suspension soaks up everything I can throw at it. Ride (not drop, ride) down a 3 foot drop and you will know what I mean!

Anyone who wants a great HT for a great price, this is THE bike. The brakes work well after a few weeks of riding - like any disc they take time to burnish.

The rear tire doesn't have a lot of clearance - Even a little buckle will cause the tire to rum the frame, but nothing a little tuning won't fix...

Overall a perfect bike - If you wanna be like Dylan Tremblay, this bike won't stop you!

Looks ultimate too. Very well balanced - I don't have any problem to land on my rear wheel when I want to. Or if you take jump you can easily push your bike down to meet the tranny.

Buy this bike!!!!
