$500.00 | | Purchased At: | Cycle Therapy | | Strengths: | frame, total pkg. good component pkg for the price range and good weight. feels lighter than it is when riding, good balance. | | Weaknesses: | bent rear "Ritchey" rim on first serious day of riding. bike shop stiffend the spokes and i went "urban" riding the next day and had no problem with the rim. grips suck. very slippery with a little sweat. easy change. a few upgrades and this bike is ready to race! | | Similar Products Used: | mongoose "surge" | | Bike Setup: | 2003 Outland, Judy TT fork, shimano Deore component pkg, Truvative cranks and Ritchey rims. | | Bottom Line: | I love this bike so far! it feels super light and is balanced beautifully. on the trail or in the city it takes off smooth and lands with confidence. the only things i will change right away are the grips and maybe a little stronger rear wheel. You get good (albeit nothing fancy) brakes, good derailer(deore), good frame, I haven't noticed bottoming out the front suspension yet, in pretty rough stuff... I have ridden the Giant Boulder (admittedly a bit cheaper); the suspension bottoms out on that one from dropping off a small curb on the hardest setting. I have not had any problems that obvious with the components on this bike; In short, they are solid inexpensive parts. | | Weaknesses: | Nothing for the price point to my knowledge. The frame seems to be designed for smaller riders, the seat may be small for some people; a test ride would easily determine if the bike's setup is good for the individual. | | Similar Products Used: | Giant Boulder | | Bike Setup: | Stock | | Bottom Line: | My first serious bike purchase, I am extremely happy with it. There has been no major maintenance issue so far.
