Strengths:    Great set-up

Weaknesses:    I cracked the rocker link in half.

Bottom Line:
Good bike. Rocker link cracked in half up in Mammoth. I wasn't doing anything to aggressive. Just riding fast on rough terrain. I didn't notice it till I was on the gondola heading back up. I'm sure it'll be replaced under warranty. I just thought I'd make a post since others seem to have a simliar post w/ the 02' frames.

Strengths:    Stout design. Decent shock.

Weaknesses:    Demo'ed a complete before I bought frame only via ebay. Found several people breaking '02 frames. I'd like to know if frames were broke due to: weight of rider, severe hucking w/no transition to land on, or hours on bike/fatigue.

Bottom Line:
Well, I sure hope the frame I have won't break on me. I don't do huge hucks unless there's decent trans to land onto. Curious as to where on the frame the "weak" spot might be. I've done 10ft urban hucks onto trans asphalt on my Stink5 w/no problems. Hope Kona will warranty the frame if I do break it!

Strengths:    Strong, easy to tune, looks ok. Comes with a good out of the box set up.

Weaknesses:    does not pedal perfectly, especially if you are out of the saddle, and if you run a small drive 32-34 teth in front.

Bottom Line:
Good value for componentry, well proven geometry, a little bit hard to weelie if you get it to big. I broke my 02L frame, and Im waiting for a 03 frame in size medium.

Strengths:    Just like the guy below said, it pedals much better than the 2002 model. I broke my 2002 frame also. The best component of any Kona is the customer service. Ed in warranty is GREAT!!

Weaknesses:    Well, I just bent my shock bolts and the rocker arms on the swing arm while riding last night. Fortunately, Ed took care of me (again) and a new set of parts are on their way.

Bottom Line:
If you want to go big, this bike is great. If you want to carry a bike uphill, well, that still sucks, but it is fun to go back down.

Strengths:    this bike sucks up big hits like no other bike. very strong, no lake of beef what so ever. pedals much nicer than the 02' did!

Weaknesses:    its not the best downhill rig, but its not meant to be downhill anyway. mine weighing 49 1/2lbs...to be exact

Bottom Line:
i had the 02' frame model but broke it and got an 03 warranty. the 02 frame had a lot of kick back and pedaled like a pile of crap. kona told me that they changed the linkage and eliminated the problem. i have to say they did a good job. i was amazed how well it rode, huge difference! but still if you want a DH bike get the stab primo. the 9 would be for someone who likes to go huge but still enjoys a nice DH run.

Strengths:    The bike is great and feels like it would be impossible to break. this beast can take a hit or two.

Weaknesses:    It is really slithy and feels like a couch and you have almost no control. it is like tring to drive a oil tanker though a mcdonalds drive though.

Bottom Line:
Other that that it is one of the best downhill/freeride bike i have ever rode before. it will last forever and you will be happy with it if you are a real hard core biker.
