Date Reviewed: September 20, 2006
Favorite Trail:Devils Backbone and Coyote Ridge
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $500.00
Purchased At:Private Party
Strengths:THIS BIKE IS A MUST the frame itself is worth 2,550$$$ brand new at the dean shop in boulder. the titanium frame is unscratchable, i did my own test on it to see. i took a wire brush and scrap it hard several times against one spot on the frame. NOTHING except a extremely minor scratch hardly visible. i have crashed several several times trying crazy things, and not one thing went wrong!!! SUPER DURABLE SUPER STRONG SUPER LITE SUPER COOL LOOKING(silver frame with dean logo, you cant look any more official than that!!!) THIS BIKE IS UNSTOPPABLE, I MIGHT HAVE IT FOR LIFE
Weaknesses:i just dont know what could happen to it for how small and lite it is, but i have not had any breaking problems! the only thing that you need to have for this bike is good components
Similar Products Used:Specialized Hard Rock 2003, Specialized 4500, Mongoose Al 2006
Bike Setup:sid team reacing front forks, fox rear float, race face crank set, race face , Chris King headset, SRAM grip shifter (they suck!), SRAM 9.0 rear deaurailer, XTR Front Deaurailer, Avid pinch brakes (awesome!) continental tires (wear down easy) MAXXIS wheels (spokes broke)
Bottom Line:If you have a good setup for this bike, literally anything is possible! for me having old crapy deaurailers on it, they broke of the frame! BUT LITTERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE is amazing, this MY FAVORTIE PART is the frame, it will last me a lifetime!

Favorite Trail:Colorado Trail - Kenosha to Breck/Fisco
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $3000.00
Purchased At:Fom a guy who bought it from Ryan and his wife wouldn't let him keep it....bummer for him!
Strengths:Efficient & light!
Weaknesses:n/a
Similar Products Used:Ibis Mojo, Elsworth Truth
Bike Setup:Exactly the same as the above reveiw by Ryan. He sold the bike to a guy who wasn't able to keep it and I ended up with it.
Bottom Line:It's a great bike! If your a weekend warrior who wants cushy smooth cadilac travel...this isn't the bike for you. This is a race machine! I rode the Ellsworth Truth and it felt like a big cadilac. I'll admit it was a super smooth ride and fun on the downhill, however, it felt like a beast. The ACE is a sleek machine that offers a very efficient ride and is super light...like a race car. I feel very comfortable on this bike and love the ride! If you want a bike that can perform in a cross country race...the Dean ACE x-lite is for you!

Favorite Trail:Anything in Fruita
Duration Product Used:6 months
Purchased At:www.deanbikes.com
Strengths:This bike is awsome I have it built up with discs & knoby 2.1s and it still is under 22.5 lbs. You get three inches of travel, great pedal efficiency and no weight penalty.
Weaknesses:Non
Similar Products Used:3d Racing custom scadnium, Jamis Dragon
Bike Setup:Sid world cup, American classic custom wheels, Marugra SL discs, XO rd, Dean post and bars, TT saddle, XTR
Bottom Line:If you are looking for the ultimate XC race bike, this is it. I am amazed at how my lap times have improved and how much energy I am able to conserve on the longer races. I have raced hard tails for four years because I did not want to compromise weight and efficiency on a full sprung ride, but this bike is just as light and seems way more efficincy
