Submitted by Daniel Kimmel a Cross Country Rider from Dayton, OH USA
Date Reviewed: July 7, 2003
Favorite Trail:ohio to erie
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Purchased At:came with Trek
Strengths:over kill for road use, adjustable preload
Weaknesses:weight
Similar Products Used:other hybrid shock forks
Bike Setup:Trek 7500, replaced shock seat post with solid Bontrager post, replaced 38c tires with 32c conti top touring
Bottom Line:For city/bikepath and light off road use, this fork is overkill. I love the preload adjustment, tightened mine to the point where sag is minimal, but forks still take out a lot of the bumps, which is wonderful if you go for 50 mile + rides. I wouldn't expect to see this fork on a mountain bike, then again it looks like it belongs. I don't know the actual weight of this fork, but I also have a 7500fx which is a traditional cro-moly fork and that bike is much lighter - same frame, different fork. For what I bought this bike/fork for - city/bike path and light off road use (hence the name Metro!)this fork is exceptional.
