Weaknesses:
-too plush -bottoms out easily -weight -white lowers are hard to clean (discolors easily) -no lockout

Bike Setup:
just removed it...raced it on 2 different bikes. One is a Soma Groove and the other a Leader 516H
Bottom Line:
The U-Turn version of the Duke is ideal for recreational riding. More "tuned" for an all-mountain rider who doesn't mind the squish on climbing.
I raced it for Short Track and XC but dialed down to 80mm or lower. It handled well but at the cost of weight. The damping still leaves the fork feeling a little like a pogo stick...bottoming out easily. In turns, it tracks well enough but you'll need to run a wider tire in front to compensate for the poor tracking.

Smooth, nice to be able to adjust. Does the job and doesn't get itself noticed. (so far) No strange unidentifiable noises as is case with some forks.

Bottom Line:
Like the fork so far, but very upset with Rockshox quality in the past 3 years. I went through two Judy's in two seasons, and the second time cost me $. Switched to Manitou for two seasons with no Problems. I took the Manitou in for a check after one season and the mechanic said the oil level still looked OK and was amazed how fresh the oil still looked and smelled. ANYWAY, Let's hope I can get at least two seasons on this ROCKSHOX with blowing through the guts and landing on Metal to Metal!

Decent fork for the money, U-turn is nice to play around with.
Weaknesses:
Rebound adjuster. during one season of riding and racing it needed to be replaced 3 times. it wasn't covered under warrenty. the bushings also blew out after about 2 months. for a racing fork it's very heavy. the springs are also very, very soft, even for me (135 lbs) standing up on the bike and pushing down pretty much bottoms them out.

The fork is decent if you have time to play with the U-turn and don't mind the weight. for a racer, it is not reccomended. even on casual rides i never found myself using the u turn. the rebound adjuster is a nice touch, but it stripped out even when i wasn't turning it, and fairly expensive to replace (especially when it happens three times). the bushings are also a consideration

The U-turn! I like to go racing with my frends but I also like to blow my legs on one of the singletracks in the woods nearby. The problem is that I want a good fork but I don't have two bikes for the difrent purposes. So the U-turn can transform your maratonbike into a freeride. (and between!)
Weaknesses:
The turn of the rebound is only 90 deg. and thus dificult to tune but it works if you've found your setting. I've used it for about 300km (180M) now and no problems so far. Perhaps a little heavy but it's lighter than my old one.

smooth. absorbs everything. uturn is very exact.
Weaknesses:
WAY TOO SOFT!!!!!!! bottoms out unbelievably easy. if i get my weight cenetered over the fork it is completely bottomed out. i did an 8' to really smooth tranny (smooth enuf i stuck it on my bmx bike w/ a 10$ fork) and the right seal on the fork blew and puked oil all over the place. since the fork comes too soft u have to get stiffer springs but because of the u-turn you cant get just springs and the kit is upwards of $30 instead of like $15 for just springs. also the u-turn is useless. It cant be done on the fly and for climbing i have it all the way down, and all other times i have it all the way up. its a useless and expensive gimmic and it ruins the asthetics. also the rebound controll iss too hard to reach, ive learned to do it w/ the tip of my foot but i cant do it at high speeds or bumpy sections. also i have trouble trusting the crown since it is glued on and it feels like plastic.

DON'T GET THIS FORK!!!!!! if you know what your doing get somthing else. if your looking for a tougher almost freeride fork get a psylo or a manitou black. and if you want a pure XC for get the Duke air. the only thing the uturn is usefull for is shrinking to fork down to fit into the trunk. if you have no price lmmit i would HIGHLY recomend a manitou sherman w/ on the fly adjustments. that is the best fork ive ever ridden and i ve never heard of one breaking.

Adjustable travel, adjustable rebound, easy to dial in. Very solid, rigid. Hasn't bottomed out on many 1-2 foot drops. Looks good. I weigh 185 and it's strong enough for me. If you're much over 190, you might need a heavier spring set.
Weaknesses:
A little (1/2lb) heavy but got used to it quickly.
Similar Products Used:

Bike Setup:
I bought two; one is used on a 2002 Airborne Corsair frame and the other on a '99 Stumpjumper FSR Comp. It works fine on both bikes but is a little heavy on the Airborne.
Bottom Line:
A great fork for the price. I race beginner class so I can't justify spending the money on a SID. The Duke is great for Michigan trails with rocks, roots, small drops (1-2 feet), etc. I have it set at 80-85mm and about in the middle on the rebound. It goes over everything with no complaints and very little feedback. It's so much better than the Manitou SX that came on the Stumpjumper, there's no comparison. It's really saving my hands, wrists, etc., on long rides. If you're not willing to spend big bucks but still want a solid fork, this might be the one for you.

I've taken this fork everywhere I ride. I typically ride at Robert E. Lee park and the local rock quarry. I've taken this thing down some huge steps, fly off of hills, take it in dirt, mud, sand, rain, (I thakn RockShox for the enduro seals), it even withstood a 2 foot drop off. I've found the u-turn option highly functional, and I have not been able to break this fork yet. Yet. My only dissatisfaction is that weighing about 4lbs. does make the front of the bike a little heavy, but in the kind of riding I do it doesn't really matter. This fork makes a great mountain fork, and kudos to RockShox for writing "All Mountain" on the side. It really deserves it.

No routing for a disc brake cable (get out the zip ties). The U-Turn travel adjuster knob is a piece of weak plastic rubbish, c'mon RockShox start using metal!!!! Little bit too heavy for serious XC racing
Schwinn Rocket88 with XT/LX parts and Shimano cable discs. Lots of Azonic bits and Mavic wheels.
Bottom Line:
I really dig these forks. Yes, they are a bit soft if you weigh more than 80kg like me. I bought the firmer spring kit and am very happy, with one exception - The orange travel adjuster knob is cheap plastic rubbish. I did the allen bolt up loosely and it just crumbled. I paid for a new one and did it up even looser and it's already starting to crack! I am not some ham-fisted thug who over-tightens everything, I've been working in the bike industry for 5 years and racing for 12. These knobs are rubbish, plain and simple. RockShox do a great job of making good forks at reasonable prices, but this is one corner they shouldn't have cut. Plastic is not a good material for this sort of application (or fork top caps for that matter). RockShox need to start making more parts out of alloy before they ever deserve a 5 star rating. With this glitch aside they are still good forks for the money, just let your local shop take responsibility for servicing them.

Suger 3+, upgraded with 02 XTR components and Bontrager Raceline wheelset
Bottom Line:
If you like adjustability it's excellent. If you want a fork that's like a pogo stick it's excellent. If you want a fork that is stiff and doesn't whip, holds a good line, this is the fork. I would recommend the XC without the Uturn, possibly the Race or SL, and few of the XC models are setup with positive air.

If u buy these get your LBS to change the spring for u (If you weigh under 150 or over 180) they may do it at no extra cost as they can re-sell the stock blue spring. I didnt have this luxury as i was lead to believe that they were an air shock and the pre-load can be altered with a pump, this is not the case and i need to buy the black springs. Gutted!!
