Product Description

Unlike a lot of "hardcore" bikes available, our American-made S-Works Street frame isn't torched together in a Tijuana muffler shop. Reynolds -- a world leader in advanced materials manufacturing for the bike industry -- specially engineered its butted 853 chromoly tubing. Street king Allan Cooke calls it the lightest (under 5.25 pounds!), best handling frame he's ever ridden. For performance on ramps and street, nothing can stop the S-Works. Not even the cops. Reynolds 853 butted and manipulated tubing, 3D CNC'd chromoly dropouts, internally relieved No-Oval(r) head tube and an internally relieved bottom bracket.

Strengths:    Light weight, cable stop alighnment, tubset, rear dropouts no lower cable/wire "collecter" needed with detangler and overall S design.

Weaknesses:    Limited availability, stupid S people, price, and no custom spec orders.

Bottom Line:

Great light and seemingly strong frame. I did dent the down tube but so what? It still works. Drops are a little different machined with the stays welded in a fashion I will not try to describe. Other 990 cable stops and yokes pull in a different plain then what the 990 brake is in so it looses a little power. X-wire is alighned properly. I struggled to give my money to Specialized to buy this. ??? They said it was not being produced and I should wait for 04 but then all of a sudden it was available BRIEFLY and i got it. Now in 04 they aren't using Reynolds 853 tubing and it's still a rip off. I will get an Eastern made with 853 that costs the same as S's 04 S-works when this frame succumbs. Overall, I'm happy with the product and don't mind buy from a big dorky Mtb company. Ride street, crappy skate parks mainly. 185lbs 6'1" Ride wit brakes too, sorry.
