Strengths: Solid rear triangle. Able to use 24" rear w/3.0 tires. 12mm thru axle = extra stiff. High BB clearance. Great cable routes. Great shock (Fox Vanilla RC).Weaknesses: Have not found any. Putting on the E-13 chainguard required some chainline engineering - but that is expected with a custom DH ride.Bottom Line: The frame was purchased (new/never built) on MTBR for $500. Did not know what to expect. I got it in and was instantly impressed. If you know full suspension, you know why Iron Horse pays a fortune to Specialized to use their FSR 4-bar linkage on the SGS DH rear. It is the best. Why does Intense do the same? Because 4-bar linkage suspension is the best there is period. Iron Horse does it without charging $2,500 for a frame, like a new M1 costs. Sure the M1 is beefier and bigger, but for $2,500 you can either look at your new M1 frame sitting on your floor or ride a fully equipped SGS. The rear stays on the SGS are PLENTY big for DH. There comes a point where physics comes into play on how much material is required to make a stiff frame. The SGS meets the minimum for DH. The cable routes are great. My ride has a dual front and the cable housing on the frame makes an easy build. Cables do not get tangled in the rear suspension movements. Head and seat angles are perfect for DH especially with a 24" rear tire. Rider position is perfect. The rear is capable of numerous shock positions with 4 different frame mounts (2 on top and 2 on bottom). That combined with the adjustability of the Fox RC makes fine tuning possible. The frame is heavy - and it should be. It is a DH bike made to take a beating. If you want light then buy a XC frame. If you want a real DH bike and want extra cash to be able to pay for lift tickets, buy this frame.
I give it the full 5 chili banger....

Strengths: Well Built Frame, Good parts all around, Ironhorse's techs are nice when you call them to ask questions.Weaknesses: The FOX SHOX and 400 lbs. spring that comes with it. The chainring is way too big at 44t! If you buy one take it appart and put it back together using lots of locktite. Everything was loose on this bike. You've been warned!!!Bottom Line: For a 180 lb. rider the stock shock and spring are very soft. After upgrading the shock the bike feels a lot diferent. As you all know there are no mountains in FL. so I can't tell you how it feels downhill. As a freeride bike I can tell you that it inspires confidence, it could be because it weighs around 46 lbs. I did my first 7-8 foot drop just 2 days ago and it reacted fine. Very good value, good parts, I get a lot of compliments, people can't beleive how little I paid for the bike. I'm very happy, see ya all at the trails. Check out www.freeridesouth.com to see this bike in action, coming soon!!
