Strengths: Geometry, Lightweight, Smooooth shifting, Fast, Floats through technical stuff,Weaknesses: Previous bike was steel, had to get used to the stiffness of aluminum.Bottom Line: This bike is so fast and fun to drive that it drove me to racing at the age of 45!
Favorite Trail: Many!
Duration Product Used: 1 Year
Price Paid:
$1200.00
Purchased At: Bicycle Sportshop, Austin
Bike Setup: Stock except for suspension seat post. Call me a woos, but I'm a lot faster now 'cause I can stay seated and keep pedaling through the roots and rocks!

Strengths: This is a great bike for the intermediate mountain bike rider. The Mars Comp front shock eats up rocks and the breaks have saved my life on a couple of runs. Shifts incredibly smoothly and quickly. I couldn't have made a better purchase.Weaknesses: The specialized seat was as hard as a rock. I immediately replaced it with a Performance women's seat. The Time ATAC pedals are good in theory, but probably not the best for a women's bike. It takes some weight and force to get out of them, not the best thing for women on the slight side. I replaced them with a set of Nashbar pedals and am much happier (and less beat-up).Bottom Line: This is a great bike for a good price. I extensively researched bikes before buying and almost purchased a Gary Fisher. The geometry on the Specialized sold me -- one ride and I knew this was the bike. I'm 5'4", 110 pounds, so if you're on the short side like I am, this bike should work for you.
Favorite Trail: The Long Trail (Winter Park, CO)
Duration Product Used: 6 months
Price Paid:
$1100.00
Purchased At: Powder Tools, Winter Park, CO
Similar Products Used: I upgraded from an very entry level Schwinn Frontier. There is no comparison between the two. This is a bike of an entirely different class.
Bike Setup: Stock, with the exception of the seat and pedals.
