Strengths: Awesome ride...smooth and comfortable. This bike is able to take a beating and keep going.Weaknesses: Haven't found anything yetBottom Line: For $320 I couldn't have asked for anymore... I'm more than happy with the product and see no reason to upgrade the components until I get a little more seasoned on the trail.

Strengths: I love this bike! Great beginner bike for the price. I'm not a millionare so I was looking for a good setup for a good price and this couldnt have been better. Plus the free labor on any parts or repairs at Bikes Direct shops (as long as you buy the parts from them, and you are the original buyer) is a big bonus eventhough I like to do the wrenching myself.Weaknesses: I really dont like the stock grips. They seem to get real slippery if you get the slighest sweat on them. Also the seat post is a real piece of caca. Adjustable, but they should have gone with a better setup.Bottom Line: If you are looking into this bike for the geeked out top of the line parts they aint there, but if you are looking for a beginner to medium level bike that is a sold buy this is the bike for you.
Duration Product Used: Less than 1 month
Price Paid:
$429.00
Purchased At: Bikes Direct (Store near my house)
Similar Products Used: Mongoose 700 something that I bought in 2001 and put 4,237 miles on. It was a piece of junk but lasted this long, so imagine what I'm gonna do on this bike.

Strengths: flat black is cool . Rigid enough I haven't broke it yet. Very upgradable. M wings are rad. aluminum is light and welds are strongWeaknesses: Haven't found one yet. , But also have all custom BHYZS BUILt components , and the stock stuff is in my garage.Bottom Line: Upgrade your frame and love it. Yes it is still warantied forever. yes my friends think it's cool. I've hurled myself down some preatty gnarly single track on this frame. Endoed twice. aired it out. ate sh^^^ many times. and there is only scratched paint. I think motobecane rocks!

Strengths: Flat black paint job doesn't scream "steal me!" Disc brakes work (modulate) great and bring bike and my 240 pound frame to sure stops. Double-walled aluminum rims and Deore LX components. PRICEWeaknesses: Switch out the stock seatpost--limited saddle adjustments.Bottom Line: Great entry level mtb that will get you off the rails-to-trails onto the single-tracks less traveled.

Strengths: the frame and componet group are excellent for this price. frame is very stiff. it came with an rst gila tl shock which has certainly been better than expected and i'd say better than any of the judy line that i've ridden in the past.Weaknesses: i dont like the stem and bars, but thats because of the rise of the stem and i just cant get used to riser bars.Bottom Line: excellent bike for the price, and an lx drivetrain. by the way if your in texas and looking for a new bike, cycle spectrum gives free service for life to the original buyer, and no i dont work there.

Strengths: Strong frame that will last through upgrades, nice component group for entry to mid-level riders. The flat black paint job is sweet!Weaknesses: A little heavy.Bottom Line: I purchased this bike without the disc brakes and with a fork that had been switched out by the shop. My first major upgrade will be to replace the fork.
This is a great bike for intermediate level riders who want to get out and do a little of everything. It handles great off-road and is not too unbearable on climbs.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with the bike. It looks like so far it will handle some serious abuse.

Strengths: super strong frame that dosen't flex under presure and the stealth paint job( flat black). The disk brakes are a plus which stop well even when wet or muddy. Most of the components are quality and worth the price I paid.Weaknesses: The brakes did squeek a little at first but after break-in they work well. The bike is too heavy for raceing and I would rather have RockShocks up front rather than RSTBottom Line: I would recommend this bike to anyone that puts in from 10 to 40 miles per weekend ride on level or mostly flat surfaces. It's not light enough for extended rides or competition. The frame will last a very long time and the components will last with a little TLC. Well worth what I paid for it and I'll buy Motobecane again when I wear this one out

Strengths: solid frame, Great Mid-Level Components. Perfect for the first time serious rider. Brakes are double-edged, they tend to be heavier and this bike seams to be more than overweight for a jumper.Weaknesses: Weight, disc breaks particularly. Did not appreciate the poor construction from Cycle Spec... Service has been much better than expectedBottom Line: Great upper entry bike. Could have gone without the disc breaks, and overall could have been lighter. I would have chosen a Rock Hopper for hte money. Same price, better name.
