Strengths:    Great price, great value, aluminum frame, descent parts spec for the money

Weaknesses:    Tire compound is too hard. Front shock is cheap. pedals are plastic

Bottom Line:
The bike handles very well and is really stiff. When I got it I changed the tires which made a huge difference. However, the bike had a low end fork which also needed to be changed. This would of been a great bike for just going back and forth to school, but I wanted to ride on the weekends at the trails as well. I put clipless pedals on it and it is now a great all around bike. The frame is good quality and I will continue to upgrade it as needed. I would recomend this bike to anyone looking of a great low priced bike that won't leave you stuck out on the trail.

Next year i'm planning on getting a dedicated AM bike, but for now i'd like to know if you guys think it would stand up OK to an occasional AM ride. I'm a real beginner ... Read More »

KHS Alite 500

Would it be too much/hard to take a KHS Alite 500 all mountain once in awhile? Nothing extreme, like minimal jumping, and not going busting straight down the mountain. For those of you in Alaska or.have been here, I'm thinking of going to a place called Hatchers Pass.Read More »

Is the KHS Alite 500 a good frame?

I'm getting a new KHS Alite 500 frame for $55. Where does the Alite 500 stand within the KHS model line-up? Also, am I getting a deal or it's noting to get all giddy about? Btw, KHS forum seems dead, so that's why I posted here.Read More »

Jamis trail x3 or KHS alite 500

alright, so both are priced pretty much the same, around 200 dollars(KHS is 20 dollars pricier) for a 2009 used. both in fairly good condition, and lets assume both fit really well for my taste, which one would be the better choice?I'm new to mtb. Thanks!Read More »
