Strengths: Very Tough frame, it can take a beating, iv dropped mine over 20 feet and it was ok, good for DH races or even just free ride. and it is very light and easy to whip around
Weaknesses: Dual Track Rims, they bend 2 easy throw on some double reinforced rims and the bike works wonders
Bottom Line:
this bike hit it off in my list though back when it launched it was pricey in 2002 with a price of $1042 now a days if you find one cheap go for it it is a great learners bike or even just something to rip around on

Strengths: Bombproof strength, great geometry for intended uses, can double as a cross country bike if it has to, but is great for hucking. Very easy to bunnyhop and manual. Good paint job.
Weaknesses: No Internation Standard Chain Guide mount, but I like running a triple anyway.
Bottom Line:
I don't know about the original spec on this bike. Never tried it. Bought mine as a frame. If you do that, this is probably one of the most inexpensive and high performing urban/freeride hardtails out there. I'm incredibly satisfied with it, especially considering that I spent no more than about $500 to build it up. (You can look at it in the Gallery). I had alot of the parts already, but even so, on a bike like this, don't waste your money on the drivetrain, get a good fork, wheelset, crankset, stuff that will last. Also, if you ever get bored of hucking or getting some air on this bike, you can always raise the seat and enjoy some singletrack. It's very versatile. It's a shame more people can't get this frame because they quit making it. You should pick one up on eBay as soon as you can.

Strengths: Very strong beefy Frame, Great components,
Weaknesses: I think for what it is made for, the crank is is probably a little to weak, I did not break it, I switched it right off the bat. The fork I think does not have enough travel for a HT, I've upgraded to a 2004 Psylo SL.
Bottom Line:
The bottom line is, this is a sweet HT, I've dropped 7' with it and I know it could easily go bigger.
K2 should have picked another Crank and Fork, the crank, I think, should be a Hussefelt or something, and the Fork is great, but not for a this HT, get yourself a Psylo, Z1, or a Sherman, something with 125-130mm.
It is a great whatever bike, it has felt great for XCs, DJs, and FRs.
K2 made a BIG mistake when they stopped making this bike.
If you can get this bike for under $700USD, I would, you will not regret it.
Just throw another fork and crank on it and your set to go, for pretty much anything.

Strengths: Small and light, perfect for urban. small rear tri so i can hop all day. avid mechanicals have been working quite nicely.
Weaknesses: things break. the hubs are poo, the stock cranks busted on the first ride. a crank arm fell off. the wheelset is horrible. bent out of true in rear end collision.
Bottom Line:
its a pretty tight urban bike. but i think it was designed for someone of a little less weight. i am always busting stuff on it. and constantly fixing it. the hubs are always coming loose on me.
the only thing i can say is that this bike is awesome for what it is and for what i paid for it. ive taken it on some big drops, and some sweet stairs, wallrides, dirtjumps. pretty much i abuse this bike.
i recommend this bike for riders 200lbs and below. if you can figure out the right set-up this bike would be sweet. i have yet to figure it out.

Strengths: Excellent frame desing allows you to have a very good and strong balance point for catwalks, manuals e.c.t I like the position the bike frame puts you in, it's very comfortable. The rims and tires are very wide witch is excellent for balance. the stock head ste is wonderful, Over all i think once upgraded the bike's a beast !!!
Weaknesses: i think that the stock shocks (Manitou black 80-100 mm) had to little travel. I also didnt think to highly of the stock crank since it broke easy. Needs stronger back rim as well as the chain. The stock handle bar was garbage and the last thing would be the brake pads that come with the AVID disc, there horible !!!
Bottom Line:
If you love hitting the trails, Jumps or pretty much anything else this this is the bike for you !!! It's strong it's realy relyable once upgraded and should kill almost any other bike out there. HTe bike even sounds good when doing drops, once youve rode the bike for a good two -three weeks it will be very comfortable. some people might laugh at this but i found that i also found it to be fairly good at trials. To me the bike looks like when suped up a bit, looks really good. and the price is fairly decent. The Chilis rating for this will burn your mouth !!!
Similar Products Used: Nothing that i've ever ridden has felt simaler to the flying monkey. but a guess would be that the disco monkey and brass monkey from k2 would feel the same.

Strengths: Very stiff (for me, 140 pound stick-man), lightweight @ 35 pounds, built cheaper than retail, good components if bought stock, better components when built from scratch!
Weaknesses: This is the part where im supposed to harp about how this bike feels flexy when flying off of 5 foot drops, or how the fork loses oil like the plague. For the time that i've ridden, this bike has shown none of the above problems. For my style of riding (urban assault, dirt jumping, agressive XC), and my weight, i think this bike couldnt be better. The only problem that i've had lies in the brakes, though it isn't really justifiable to blame the bike on those. I've always had problems with V-brakes and the fade you experience during heavy application. This is nothing wrong with the bike, just a component issue. Overall, you will be hard pressed to find a weakness.
Bottom Line:
This is a GREAT rig, for anyone from beginner to advanced. This frame can accomodate many different types of upgrades, and can easily be customized to fit your individual needs and riding style. I personally haven't found a more stable, solid platform for FR/urban assault, and with the right modifications, you can run with the best of the hardtails. I'll give it 4 flamin' chilis for value because of the high retail price, but if you manage to get a deal or build it yourself from a bare frame like I did, then it is really worth 5 of those flamin' hot chilis! This is truly an excellent buy!

Strengths: This bike has what you need to get you where you wanna go. Stock with shimano deore, Avid disc brakes, nice Manitou "black" shocks, and an overall look of destuction. It is a solid riding and looking bike.
Weaknesses: The only thing I would Possibly change would be that the shifters might be in the way for some riders over tough terrain.
Bottom Line:
the bottom line is this, for only a 1000.00 bucks, you get one hell of a bike.
