Strengths:    Great all-around bike, climbs well even with a 100mm fork, awesome look, nice stock tires

Weaknesses:    A little heavy compared to some purist xc designs, stock wheels and pedals leave something to be desired.

Bottom Line:
I love this bike. Much more versatile for everyday use than my roommate's Sugar 2. I ride around campus on it, and it's not too flashy or sensitive to leave on a rack for the day. Easy to care for, hardly anything to break, and good upgradability. A very comfortable and high-performance design for on- or off-road use. I can keep up with full suspensions on the trail or hold my own with my roadie friends. Value is excellent, especially if you can find one secondhand.

Strengths:    SNAPPY! This bike is so sick for the price! Handles awesome on the singletrack, FAST, excellent climber, extremely light as I had built just over 20lbs, very strong frame and good looks, geometry is perfect for me at 5'7" and 160lbs the center of gravity on the medium frame gels perfect.

Weaknesses:    I don't like Time pedals so opted for the titanium egg beaters and swapped out the riser bar for bontrager xxx carbon other than that (and that's not really weak attributes) no problems

Bottom Line:
Buy it! It's a great bike, great components, light, opt for the brushed aluminum frame with red/black it looks awesome. I have already raced this bike and was very impressed. I strongly ugre anyone who is racing a hardtail to look at this bike and for those of you who want a stellar bike to begin raing on but don't want to shell out $$$ for some of the others out there buy the K2.

Strengths:    Great components for the money (except fork), very light, exceptional support from K2.

Weaknesses:    Had problems with Noleen fork that came on bike.

Bottom Line:
This is an awesome bike. It feels very fast and light.

The Noleen Mega Air fork that came on mine leaked right from the start. Apparently this is essentially a defect w/ the fork and it was phased out of production. K2 customer service was outstanding and the shock was quickly replaced with a Rock Shox Duke XC. I would definitely recommend this bike and K2!

Strengths:    This review is for the 2001 K2 zed team frame. This frame is awesome, super light at 3.5 pounds. The frame has some flex to allow it to absorb the bumps. Due to the frame design, it's extremely easy to get this bike into the air. Climbing up hills is a breeze too.

Weaknesses:    Frame is only covered by a 5yr manufacturers warranty.

Bottom Line:
Great hardtail for the price. I bought the frame and then built the bike with parts from ebay. I can't believe how fast this bike is, it just flies through the singletrack and up and down hills. The bike is so light that it is easy to hop over logs at any speed.

Strengths:    This frame is fairly lightweight (3.75lbs. w/ig headset, on LBS scale), gussets galore, fairly stiff steering due to all those gussets. This frame really does as advertised in reducing the "buss" and harshness usually associated with aluminum frames, thanks to the custom manipulated chainstays and s-bend seat stays. Affordable

Weaknesses:    Gussets galore. Although the gussets due help stiffen the frame and make it more durable, the only reason why I really see them there is because the tubeset is so friggin' light. The tubes dent very easily. The bike fell over in my garage, and the top tube landed on my shop vac, making a small, but noticeable, dent. since then two more dents have appeared, one very large in the downtube, but does not affect function. The warranty is very slow. I bought the Zed 2 complete bike in 2001, and when the frame broke, K2 sent a Zed team frame to Lakeside. it took approximately 6 months, though. That is a good deal, a $400 retail frame for what was a $400 complete bike. By the way, this frame isn't even made by K2, rather by kinesis, whisch makes most everyones frames. This frame is basically the exact same as the Jamis Komodo.

Bottom Line:
This frame is great for everything you can throw at it. its gussets make the fron end almost a box section monocoque, so its stiff, and fairly lihgt. The tubes are very thin, though worth keeping in mind if you plan on technical, rocky trails. 5 flaming chilis for value 'cause this frames only $400, though I got mine for free:). $ overall due to weak thin tubes.

Strengths:    This bike is awsome, it climbs like a dream. I've noticed that the center of gravity on this bike is perfect. I can corner turns at speeds that i never thought possible. Weight is to a minimal, and components are to a maximum. The fork on this bike is AWSOME!!!!!

Weaknesses:    the wheels, (need to be lighter)

Bottom Line:
This bike preforms like a pure bread racing hardtail without a killer price. It absorbes the little bumps, but doesn't sacrifice strength to do so. The color shines among the other bikes. Tthis is an awsome fun bike to ride. If you are looking for a bike with a great value, and not too expensive than this is the bike for you.

Strengths:    gussetts
big down tube
stiff yet not harsh
weight

Weaknesses:    dropouts

Bottom Line:
i bought the frame and it is great, it climbs, decents and handles like a dream, a great bike for the racing hardtail purists out there. the dropouts dont work well w/ shamino type skewers that come off of the side, they will only close is one position, a salsa type works alot better (like what comes in the bike).
