Strengths: the frame is very strongWeaknesses: the crank has came loose and the rear axle on my has brokeBottom Line: i think the komodo is a really good bike it handles really well the gears are very good the bike is fast and gets up hills the suspension works really well. and it gets up hills easy i would recomend anyone to buy a komodo they are good bikes.

Strengths: Easton ULTRA tubing instead of Elite. Kinesis disc specific dropouts. Interesting geometry(wicked standover). Disc specific rear stays(no brake post). Wishbone shaped stays. Cable routing. Graphics/color combo-Gold, black & silver. Weight:strength ratio. Super light long travel hardtail = Fun. Great stability.Weaknesses: Low bottom bracket(downside of the great stability). Zerostack headset idea is pooch even though it's a top o'line Cane Creek cartridge and works well. Fork-Black Super 100 like reviewer below wasn't up to the task.Bottom Line: FAST FAST FAST! Low bottom bracket is easy to get used to. Take care when washing or wet riding to let headtube drain of trapped water, a Zero Stack problem. Bike is good at drops and jumps. Excellent climber. Great tire clearance. Handles high speed corners real well due to the low bottom bracket, the double edged sword. Great standover. I thought the 19" would be to small but knew the 21" is way to big so I built the 19" and it measures out perfect for me w/120mm 5 degree stem. I'm 6'. The low but long sloping toptube throws you off and makes it look small. I received a Easton Ultra tubed team version but I assure you there's not much diffence in weight or ride quality from the Elite version. I built mine from a fork/frame combo. The stock Manitou Black Super 100 wasn't very good even after spring swaps and tinkering. Lucky I had received a custom tuned Duke SL 100 from SRAM/Rock Shox just waiting for this bike. Night and day differance. SRAM Rock Shox did a perfect job and I've dumped an I.F. Deluxe Disc in favor of this bike. 'Nuff said.

Strengths: Excellent frame. Very tough while being reasonably light. Hayes brakes are great. Tubeless tires also work very well.Weaknesses: Manitou Black fork was not up to the level of the rest of the components. The Mavic Crossroc wheelsets are prone to breaking spokes on the brake side of the rear hub.Bottom Line: Excellent all around bike. Bottom bracket is alittle low but great handling is the payoff for banging the pedels every once in awhile. Jamis is hard to find in the Mid-west but I recommend you look at them before you buy.

Bike Setup: Replaced the Manitou Black with a Fox Forx Vanille 125RL. (what a major improvement it was!) Built a wheelset with Mavic X3.1 rims and Chris King ISO Disc hubs. Another big improvement in wheel stiffness and no more broken spokes.

Strengths: Frame is light and strong. Excellent climber, very responsive and agile. Frame quality is top shelf, the welds are clean and the chainstays are works of art.Weaknesses: None so far.Bottom Line: So far this is the best XC bike I've ever owned. Climbing is a breeze and the bike's very stable and predictable in speedy downhills. The Easton Elite tubing is very light (17" frame is under 26lbs. built)and STRONG (very little flex)!! I initially thought the frame would be too small but after the first couple of rides I was sold on the geometry, a 19" frame would not work for me (5' 10"). A friend and I built mine for under $1200 (look at my component group!)but even the factory bike is probably the best hardtail deal out there considering how it rides and the Hayes brakes.

Strengths: Manitou Black 100mm fork, syntace adjustable stem, XT/LX drivetrain, Rock Shox seatpost, Hayes hydraulic brakes,tubeless wheelset,integrated headset.Weaknesses: None, so far.Bottom Line: I am very happy with this very loaded bike, all of its parts are top shelf,. This bike it handles smootly, corners well.The fork is great. I don´t think you can get a better bike for the money. Frame geometry, color and general design is better than my previous Komodo and the bike responds better.
My Trek 8500 was a sweet bike with great performance, very similar to my Komodo, but not as good as Komodo.
Komodo proves me hardtails ride better than dualies. Weight is also a lot better than similar bikes of another brands.
