Favorite Trail:technical singletrack in Fruita and Moab
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $1000.00
Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:Superlightweight and stiff frame, HANDMADE in Canada! Great XC geometry, but handles rougher stuff well too. Fast, responsive. Bike can easily be built to below 21 lbs - with stock components it's around only 24 lbs! I use it as a great second race bike (have a S-Works M5 hardtail which is sweeeeeet!).
Weaknesses:Stock fork. I actually haven't had any problems in 2 years of steady technical riding, but others seem to have. I've been waiting for an excuse to upgrade the fork to something lighter (Manitou?), but no reason to just yet.
Similar Products Used:Specialized Stumpjumper, Specialized S-Works M5, Specialized Rockhopper, Schwinn Homegrown Factory (and several full-suspension rigs as well)
Bike Setup:Mix of LX/XT/XTR, Avid brakes, Mavic wheels, Titec cockpit, SS eggbeaters, Rock Shox Duke.
Bottom Line:Hard to beat this rig for the value. It truly has great XC geometry and is built tough. Nice welds (as with any handmade frame). Race-able out of the box, and the frame will last for years. Devinci frames are a real bargain, especially the hardtail ones - a little difficult to find in USA, though. Try to get a used one on eBay - you'll get a great bargain on a handmade frame that compares well with the S-Works. If you're on a budget, save by starting with this and build up from there (if you need to).

Date Reviewed: February 23, 2003
Favorite Trail:Mt Assiniboine
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $750.00
Purchased At:Cyclepath
Strengths:2002 model clear out, you can't beat that price. Small size is 24.5lbs with Time pedals.
Weaknesses:Last time I had a Rock Shox had bad experiences. A Marzochi would have been a better spec choice, but I guess that is what the aftermarket is for.
Similar Products Used:I have owned many rigid, front and full suspension bikes.
Bike Setup:Stock. Specs can be seen on the website.
Bottom Line:A great base to start from. Excellent for XC racing or fast trail riding. Feels very solid despite the low weight. 2 lbs can be taken off of this bike quite easily.
