Duration Product Used:6 months

Purchased At:Freedom in Penticton
Strengths:This frame is super strong, the dj2s are great, the rims hold up well to most stuff, it can throw down drops with all the big full suspensions too.
Weaknesses:not much, the rear rim could be upgraded to a doubletrack or somethin beefier though.
Similar Products Used:p3,4hun
Bike Setup:2003 stock
Bottom Line:This bike is awesome, anybody hardcore enough to ride a hardtail and take the same hits as the big fully's needs to look at this.

Submitted by Chris a Cross Country Rider from Victoria, BC
Date Reviewed: July 11, 2002
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $2700.00
Strengths:Everything! For starters, this bike is an amazing climber. I found myself blowing by those XC racer types on both the uphills and the downhills. Can handle any terrain with ease. Beautiful.
Weaknesses:Only any ugly choice of colors for the frame. (but still a very high quality paint job)
Bottom Line:An all around great bike. This one will last me (or anyone for that matter) forever. I give this bike 500 flamin' chilis!!!

Date Reviewed: June 5, 2002
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $1300.00
Purchased At:mtn city cycle, comox, bc
Strengths:Very beefy stays, good brakes and fork, comfy seat and geometry. So far so good, a nice tough bike. Good stock tires and rims.
Weaknesses:The hydro cable fastener on the fork crimps and breaks the hydro cable when used, so I only use zapstraps to secure the cable to the fork. Seat rips easily, so try to switch to a fabric seat rather than the cheap vinyl one. The Psylo forkis plush, but could be stiffer for bigger drops. Also seems like it could be made lighter than it is.
Bike Setup:Stock
Bottom Line:I paid $2000 CDN for this beauty, and I think it's well worth it. I used to ride a crosscountry kona hardtail but they kept breaking on me, so I opted for something heavier.

Strengths:looks
Weaknesses:weak weak headtube welds, ive had a 2001 phatt and kingpin both headtube welds cracked in less then 6 months now theyre sending me a 2002 kingpin, and no i dont want it.
Similar Products Used:none this crappy even my cross country trek held better than this thing
Bike Setup:1st one : devinci phatt w/ z3's (4inch) 2nd one: devinci kingpin w/ super t's (6inch) and it was supposed to handle those haha
Bottom Line:crap, if u like warrantying frames every few months go buy a devinci theyre good at replacing them, just not getting them to you quickly and overalll making frames. 1 flammin' chili for replacing it for the 2nd time.

Submitted by Bjorn a from Calgary
Date Reviewed: February 19, 2002
Favorite Trail:Anywhere, Always
Duration Product Used:Tested or demo'ed only
Price Paid: $1400.00
Purchased At:Cyclepath
Strengths:More upright seat post than many free ride bikes. The 3-5 inch option on the shock is awesome and easy to use.
Weaknesses:would be nice if they could have taken off a couple more more pounds, but no big deal the frame is strong. We'll see about the Hayes composite brakes.
Similar Products Used:No freeride as yet, Marin XC only.
Bike Setup:stock.
Bottom Line:Just bought the thing. Very excited, test ride only. Was looking for something between XC and F-Ride. The upright seat position cranked up with the shock down to 3 inches makes it good for longer rides. Drop the seat and this is one cool free ride. (So far). Keep you posted. It's great to support a Canadian Company.
