Strengths:    THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE FX4. The frame is the same througout the range (which is excelent),so it is just a case of upgrading when things break. Good all round package for entry level stuff.

Weaknesses:    The forks are rubbish and need to replace before disks can be mounted. Same goes for the hubs. This gets expensive as it all has to be done at the same time.

Bottom Line:
Great budget way to get a good frame up and running from the shop, but leaves you wanting to upgrade ASAP. Feels tall to ride but a great all rounder.

Strengths:    G-Zero FX 2004! The FX has a great firm frame that will get you through any trial and weather. An incredibly sturdy bike, I am very rough with my bike and from 9 previously owned bikes the Scott FX has proven to be the strongest! With all the stamina comes a minimal weight which is perfect for the cross country rider! Will handle the steepest of climbs with no problem.

Weaknesses:    Scott went and produced the strongest bike on the market, the gear shift is reliable and the brakes are perfectly tweaked, but they did downsize the bike hugely by... well quite frankly... putting crap forks on it. This bike could have been huge if it was sold with better forks.

Bottom Line:
A superb bike, a work of art, the epiphany of light weight full suspension bikes, but of course lacks in certain areas, where component choice has not had enough consideration. On the other hand this would of made the bike a lot more expensive!!! so it is accessible to the average rider as a VERY VERY VERY GOOD BIKE, and also accessible to the more experienced rider who can change and swap compentants on an extremely good frame!

Strengths:    This is for the FX 10. Probably one of the best single pivot x country bikes around.Rear end is very lively.Climbes very well until you want to push mid ring at a high cadence.Excellent on steep declines and technical xcountry.Great range of travel adjustablity(90-125mm F+R).

Weaknesses:    Rear swing arm has a little torsional flex when pushing up steep hills.Wheelset is very light and can dent easily if running a low tyre pressure.

Bottom Line:
Perfect for anyone who wants a great allround bike. Not a xcountry racer, not freeride unless beefed up in the wheelset, heaps of fun on the technical stuff due to its light weight.Comfortable riding position on long hauls.
Looks great and is not a bike you will see many of in Australia.Buy it if you only want one bike that is good allround.

Strengths:    THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE FX 3 Really good rear suspension. extra light frame Very strong mechanical disc brakes. Looks good

Weaknesses:    The forks are absolutely SH1T i have upgraded them to some excelent marzocchi bombers

Bottom Line:
This bike is light and the rear suspension is great but you really need to upgrade the forks (if you can even call them forks). Gears are very quick and easy to use. The brakes are extremely strong (be carefull not to endo).

Strengths:    Have riden a few full suspension bike before this bike and the FX 3 has a lot more ridgid rear and a lot easier to climb on

Weaknesses:    front shocks RST 90mm of travel don't handle wet weather riding clogg up & seize.

Bottom Line:
Great bike now, druable, not to heavy for the style of riding i do. Great stopping power, good amount of travel although rear shox needs to be changed for one with a lock out when out on bigger climbs. Good durable frame for someone i bit heavier (weight) that enjoys cross contry rides. The front rock shox pyslo are great apart from you can feel a bit of flex in them under braking and hard cornering.

Strengths:    IT`S A G-ZERO FX-2: For mee the price are right: the compnets althoug the front suspension needs to bee change

Weaknesses:    front and rear suspension small travel;seat;tires.

Bottom Line:
Nice bike for freeride and some urban assaults; but change the front suspension and rear shock for more abused drop`s!
but rides smooth on freeride and with a 130 mm front suspension it,s also good for dual incursions!

Strengths:    !!Review for Scott FX-3!! First bike after 3 years that my rattled spine appreciates - no back pain! The rear shock nicely swallows the bumps, climbs almost like a hardtail.

Weaknesses:    Somewhat unstable at high speeds (70km/h going back down on tarmac). A little on the heavy side (aroung 14 kg). Stock drivetrain and fork are crap.

Bottom Line:
This review is for the Scott G-zero FX-3!

I scavenged the FX-frame from a new bike and swapped almost all original parts with my one month-old hardtail, as my spine just couldn't take the abuse of a hardtail anymore.

The stock drivetrain and fork are crap, best used for low grade commuter bikes, or for light and undemanding weekend riders. The stock HMX-1 brakes are not so bad.

This is the first bike after 3 years, where I don't have any (or have a lot less) back pain after my rides.

It swallows the bumps nicely, and although it is relatively heavy it still climbs OK.
It will also get a little better, when I change the damping in my fork from Air to Coil (thank god for Marzocchi upgrades), as Coils make for a much softer, plusher ride, especially over smaller bumps.

Good price for the price and performance. Excellent ride after upgrades.

Strengths:    Light frame, stiff, adjustable rear travel.

Weaknesses:    Rear shock has weak bushings. Have to buy new one, cuz I've changed them 2 times with original and they're crap. Cheap and heavy hubs.

Bottom Line:
2 years I've been riding older version without adj. rear travel. So new model is stiffer and has more travel. Great geometery. Very stabile when riding downhill. Not to much bob uphill. Most of my friends have G-Zero FX and don't have any problems. Good for hard XC and light freeride. My average trip is about 30-40 miles. My riding style is saving power uphill and then as fast as possible downhill (40 mph). This frame is great and I'll never buy anything else.

Strengths:    Great solid frame, predictable rear suspension, good weight, versatility

Weaknesses:    Cheap hubs, disapointing front shock, strange noises from bottom braket

Bottom Line:
I swapped the front shock, rear shock, brakes, bottom bracket and cranks over the last 12 months and still love this bike. Great balance with plenty of room to shift your body around. The original Magura's didn't have reach adjustment, but had plenty of power, some people I'm sure would like them - but I swapped them for Hayes hydrolic. Orignal BB and Race Face cranks (old style) made some strange noises after a while and I swapped to an XT BB and crank arms - problem fixed.

This frame has the potential to be a great freeride bike or a reasonalbe XC bike - just depending on part mixes - the versitility of this bike is just great.
