Strengths: stiff, durable frame, horst link, good bearings, Canadian geometry, high quality, very little bob, very fast
Weaknesses: Zero-stack headset, a little heavy, not that plush, 85mm max travel
Bottom Line:
This is a very good race/trail bike. Gives up some plushness for pedaling efficiency, but a good compromise. Smoother ride than the Giant NRS. 70 degree head angle makes it stable, steepish seat angle helps you spin, 16.75" chainstays help it climb like a monkey. Lock it out and it is like-a-hardtail STIFF- not like the Kona I used to have. My only gripes are that the standover/BB height is a bit tall, and the friggin zero-stack headset- why?? At least it's not an integrated headset, where you replace the frame when the bearings ovalize the head tube. With a shock that has a more linear rate progression than the stock Float, could be near perfect in suspension performance. Maybe a future upgrade to an SPV shock and a King Perdido headset? Bike works better the faster you go. Similar to Trek's Fuel, but strong enough for enduros, heavyweights and trail abuse. Love this bike, will have it for a long time.
Weaknesses: Delivery took 4 months, because I wanted disc tabs. Devinci kept pushing back the delivery date for XCD1 frames with disc tabs for fear of a recall down the road. More testing was needed I guess.
Bottom Line:
Now that I raced this bike in a 24hr race, I feel ready for an honest review. The Moonracers little sibblings (Arrowhead/Dragonfly) are very popular up here in eastern Canada race scene. Not to bad for a first year model. Anyways this bike rocks, its plenty stiff, the lockout on the rear suspension is there as a selling tool for the bike shop, because you'll hardly even use it once you get out on the tails. My other bike is a Fisher Supercaliber (26" wheels!), and can't see myself riding it besides commuting to work with it! It took a while to get it, but very well worth the waiting afterall. This bike is so smooth over the rough stuff (roots & rocks) I have to give it 5 chili's. Again very impresive for a first year model. With disc brakes you can really push this bike to its full potential.
Similar Products Used: Trek Fuel 90/98, Sugar 2+, Rocky's Instict, and Giants NSR 1 are all bikes I also considered and tried out.
Bike Setup: Built up the frame with a Manitou Super fork, Hayes Mag hydro brakes. Easton's EA70 stem/seatpost, with a Monkey Lite handlebar, Shimano XT shifters/crank/der. Wheels are Mavics 317 to King Iso Hubs. Pedals are Times, tires are IRC SeracXC, and a Selle Italia Max Flight Trans Am seat to finish all this up. Bike weights in at just under 25lbs.

Strengths: The strengths is amazing on lateral and feel really stiff on technical (east coast "rooty" style) singletrack. Can handle drop, not usual for a FSXC lightweight bike!
Weaknesses: The paint style look's like a road bike (maybe the Lance's bike!), but it's only because i have nothing complaint about this bike...
Bottom Line:
This Bike is Perfect! I was the one who was frecking out to change to a full suspension bike(got a Ti Kona hardtail before), and i rather be fishing than go back on my hardtail! I have a really good Summer (ride 5-6 day/week,around 1500 km yet) and a big part of it it's my bike. I'm confortable on it, and it's nice they just did a bigger custom frame for me(i'm 6.3 feet tall), for a good price... Buy the Bike, NOW!
Strengths: rear lockout is easy to reach, bike gives me more confidence on narly downhills as well as turning hairy corners, sweet looks, overall fun, and i can do 4 foot drops onto flat landing easily. and the bike holds up great.
Weaknesses: CRAPPY sram rear der. 9.0 broke, the thing snapped, ruined a good ride, had to buy a new rear der., scram xo, but this is working good so far.
Bottom Line:
bike still ROCKS after 6 months of harsh beating, riding almost every day, about 800 miles in all. still works great.
