Favorite Trail:Mostly Street
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $269.00
Purchased At:Solano Cyclery
Strengths:Good overall feel. It handles great on the street. After riding street and halfpipes alot in the late 80's and then taking 10 years off and puting on about 25lbs I realized that I probably shouldnt get right back on a 20" bike. I decided to get a cruiser and everywhere I called and everyone I talked to pointed me the the hellcat 24. Undecided between the Haro Backtrail and the Hellcat I called a local bike shop to see if they had either there and the guy told me they had a Hellcat on sale for $269! Enough said it is now mine. And I feel I made the right choice.
Weaknesses:A little heavy. I cut the bars off 1" and probably will take another half inch off. Sprokets got to go and I replaced the stem with a SNAFU.
Similar Products Used:20" BMX race and freestyle bikes.
Bike Setup:FBM Sproket, SNAFU stem, Dirt Monster tires, and a second Odessey brake on the front.
Bottom Line:So far this bike has met almost every expetation I had for it. It has a few parts that need upgrading but nothing major. For being the first bike I've bought in 10 years I can honestly say this bike is probably the only bike I'll need to own for the next 10 years. Plus it's great for us big guy's cause it's solid enough to really take a beating.
At $269 this bike is definetly a prize that I would give a 5 rating to. At $379 MSRP I'd have to say it would get a 4 due to the parts I had to change up.

Favorite Trail:street
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Purchased At:pro-deal, i get it much cheaper
Strengths:21.5 tt (other street cruiser were longer which sucks for anything other than DJ), super solid parts selection for the money - great bars, great seat, very solid 48h wheels, and beefy fork! Very nice gearing - 39/18
Weaknesses:Too solid,...it's a bit heavy, out of the box it weight 38lbs, but it just makes you stronger! The pedals are gay - i think this is sombody's idea of a joke,...cheap NON-pinned platforms! The parts i dislike but are acceptable and rideable are the cranks and sprocket, the sprocket is stamped steel, and the cranks are ultra heavy solid chromo 3-piece (like Redline Monster cranks) - but to it's credit,...i am however very pleased the bike is equiped with 3-piece cranks
Similar Products Used:many! I have an extensive BMX and MTB background - WTP KH-01, Hoffman Debo, Haro Backtrail, S&M Warpig, DK General Lee, Planet X JFC, DMR Sidekick, Azonic DS-1
Bike Setup:Bars cut down about 1 3/4 on each side,...added Big Cheese Stars grips, New smaller Oddessey Modulever,Diatech Hombre rear brake (with Dekka pads - big improvement), KORE Sweet 69 55mm stem, Profile 175 cranks, PrimoPro CNC 39t, ACS Claws 18t freewheel, Azonic Fusion Mag sealed pedals, and soon to add 2 Snafu Ti pegs (mmm, sparks!) and Thompson post -- and yes, the gyro is still on and the brake works perfect with painted rims
Bottom Line:Great bike! I never would have thought Free Agent to make a bike that would be the best at anything, but it does everything it's supposed to!! I come from a history of riding Haro, GT, and Hoffman bikes as far as bmx is concerned as well as working for a couple different bike shops testing/riding any bike i want. However, this is the only 21.5 tt chromo 24" street cruiser available!! I was set on getting an 03' DK General Lee 24, but they are Hi-Ten steel!!! Not even worth owning, and the other rivals for complete bike are the Haro Backtrail 24 (21.8 tt) and Spec Vegas 24 (22.3 tt) - the Haro was maybe a touch lighter and the Vegas did feel just as heavy. Absolutely the best buy / best ride for street/freestyle 24" complete bikes in my book! - I'm 26 and have no interest in 20" bikes anymore - and i needed to get some skills back that i lost a long time ago due to suspensions and gears on MTB's - so this fit the bill perfectly aside from a small weight issue! In the moth i have had the bike, my skill level has increased exponentially just from getting back to the old school approach!

Overall - Oustanding! Value rating - 4 out 5 based on average shop price of $375 (the pedals and sprocket would have needed to be better to get a 5 at this price)

Date Reviewed: February 28, 2002
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Purchased At:Olson's Bikes
Strengths:Sweet frame, Pretty burly. Rides really nice
Weaknesses:wheels kinda suck, geared too low but thats about it
Similar Products Used:mostly mtbs
Bike Setup:stock for right now, switched out the freewheel for a 16t (comes with a 18). Jumps so much better. got rid of the gyro, hate those fricken things.
Bottom Line:This is the bike i was looking for. I'm 6'5" and i cant ride 20 inch bmx cuz they are too small. This bike fits good. Can huck it all over the place. a sweet deal, and you dont have to buy a haro or specialized to get a beefy cruiser
Value Rating:4Overall Rating:5
