Strengths:    Lots of compression, don't stink after being worn once, warmer than you'd think, massive height.

Weaknesses:    Height, relative to mine. Price is definitely on the high side (disclaimer: mine were swag.)

Bottom Line:
At 5'10", I've got 12" from my ankle to the bottom of my kneecap, so the compression cuff when stretched fully, (no sag in the sock) encroaches in the knee-pit. While this is fine standing straight, when pedaling it can bite a little at first. After riding for a while they tend to work their way down about 1/2" or so....the trick is to give 'em some preset sag around the ankle.

I didn't expect olefin socks to be terribly warm, but the twelves are quite comfortable down around 50F.

For my money, the 7" merino socks are the way to go until the 12" socks become 10 or 11" socks that hit closer to the middle/top of my calf. Beanpoles would probably like them, though.
