Strengths:    Quality of materials and workmanship. Pockets are great. Design and looks.

Weaknesses:    Needs a better chamois. Not as comfortable for my old posterior as lycra shorts. Could use more elastic in waistband and/or drawstring. My belly is bigger than my ass, so I need a little extra help holding them up.

Bottom Line:
Good, tough exterior materials. Soft, comfortable liner with chamois and leg grippers. Unfortunately, the chamois is weak. Quality construction throughout.

These shorts are good for trail riding. Though, they are heavy for the really hot weather. They fend off all those nasty, prickly bushes.

Great looking shorts. I especially like the layout of the pockets. Six pockets: two zipper pockets/vents up front, two secure pockets with flaps on sides, and two little pockets low on the sides. More than enough room to carry all that crap that I don't need on a ride anyway.

If these shorts had a better chamois I would give an overall rating of 5 chilis.

Similar Products Used:   None in baggies. Cannondale Velocity short, Performance Elite short. Both have much better chamois (even the Elite).

Strengths:    Comfortable, durable, good design, not too long or too short, stays put when sliding around on the saddle, dries quickly

Weaknesses:    I wish the tail was cut taller and the elastic drawsting more taut

Bottom Line:
A great short for a reasonable price. Cool technical features like venting, smart storage and inner to outer gaitor at the lower thigh. It completely disappears on a long ride. Do not get the PI Voltana short, the Stone or Crown Jewel is just a superior product. BTW, I still ride my 1999 Crown Jewels, they've seen years of racing and abuse.
