Strengths:    Very comfortable waist band, usable pockets & cargo pockets are really nice for stashing gear during a ride. Material on the shell is light weight & comfortable.

Weaknesses:    Chamois padding is only OK. Fine for full suspension but on hard tail I prefer a bit more padding. Still, I don't mind wearing these shorts on either bike. I would like the chamois to have more compression on the legs (like regular spandex bike shorts).

Bottom Line:

Very comfortable shorts that can be worn back & forth to the trails. If you can find them for a good deal they look great and are very nice on a ride. I have 2 pairs and wear them all the time. Haven't worn out either pair yet.

Strengths:    Comfortable; good-looking.

Weaknesses:    None.

Bottom Line:

This short must have been redesigned, as I saw negative reviews from a couple years ago that are probably no longer true. The shell is now made of 100% polyester, and the lining is 95% polyester and 5% spandex. Its ventilation is as good as other well-designed bike shorts. The padding is not very thick, so you don't feel like you're wearing diaper. It has a long inseam and looks stylish. It's not the cheapest, but it's now my favorite short.

Strengths: Durable, Style.

Bottom Line:

Great shorts especially for the price. The main reason I wrote this review was to let people know that the main REI in Seattle has these shorts on a super sale right now. I have owned a pair of these shorts for three months and saw them on sale for 17 dollars on a super clearance this saturday and bought two more. This sale is not advertised but go there and get some. They also have lots of other products at around 75% off.

Strengths:    Great Fit

Bottom Line:

I wish I would have looked at the reviews for these shorts before I bought a pair for myself. The other reviews were right on the money. These are made of a wierd towel feeling material with equals really hot, your boys suffer the entire ride. I even rode an on cold day and I was still a little uncomfortable. These will be my cold ride day only shorts.

Strengths:    covers the sensitive region

Weaknesses:    hot, hot, hot, microfleece stuff(feels like felt) wicks sweat but it doesnt ever evaporate, ends up like a wet towel

Bottom Line:

really dissapointing. i guess i have the 05 mid rangers and while they look ok the fit is pretty good, the material is the worst they could have used.these things are friggin hot! the worst things arethat they fill up with sweat, like a wet towel, or a wool blanket sweat will literally drip down my legs, seriously, u can wring these out on a moderatly hot day. the other thing is the sweat buildup promotes friction and abrasions soon follow.sweaty saddle sores are not my idea of fun...i think im going back to the tights, or the trusty cod piece

Strengths:    Good wicking and ventilation

Weaknesses:    pad too far forward, really weak outer fabric, lasted 5 rides with no crashes!

Bottom Line:

Don't buy these shorts the microfiber outer is really piss poor it will rub through on your seat post before you know it.

Strengths:    Well, they look cool.

Weaknesses:    They only lasted 3 rides.

Bottom Line:

The shorts suck. I have had a pair of Nema's for 2 years and still wear them almost every ride. I decided to purchase a pair of Fox mid ranger shorts because I liked the high back and they were extremely comfortable. I got 3 rides out of them and they were already fraying on the inner thigh. We are talking about 30 miles and they are fraying with holes starting. I contacted Fox and they said that they are very aware of the problem and to take them back to the dealer you purchased the shorts from. Fox Sucks!

Strengths:    Tough outer (no shredding here, and I've slid on my ass down rocky hills)
Nice, cool liner

Weaknesses:    Yes, the pad is a little of but it's liveable

Bottom Line:

Solid shorts. The mesh liner keeps the jewels cool even in the Florida heat. Tough shell protects even against jagged limestone rock. Not the best short out there, but the were on sale, and they work fine. Beats the crap out of the spandex under board shorts i was using before. The padding might not be as good, but the crotch isnt always catching on the dang seat.

Strengths:    Liner is nice snug fit with rubber grip to keep
it from riding up your legs.

Weaknesses:    The pad is to far forward. The draw string doesn't feel real stong, but the Major problem is the weak outer material.

Bottom Line:

These shorts are comfy enough except the pad which is sewn in too far foward. Enough so that it's a little uncomfy for your nuts when walking around, and it is ineffective padding with your seat lowered. But what REALLY PISSED ME OFF out these shorts is the WEAK outer material!!
I was stoked too go for my first trail ride with these shorts, but never go the chance because the material SHREDED when me and some friends were building some stunts
in the back yard (Not even in the woods, The Back Yard).
every time the outer material touch something course, (bark
plywood, 2x4, a stiff freakin breeze!) the material become so abraded it looked like the shorts had a bad case of acne
then two little rips appeared in the back of the leg, I assume from sitting, and the whole thing is topped off by
a massive tear on outer leg from the pocket along the seam.
Not the seam itself, the material tore away from the seam.
(I assume the abrading weaken the material.)I hadn't even rode my bike yet. What the HELL?
If you think you might contact something rough on the trail
(branches, rocks, course dirt, bark and so on)take a pass on these shorts and buy something stronger, because theres only one use I can think of for these on the trail, but my
double ply scotts t.p. might be stronger!

Strengths:    -Stylish, you can wear it off the trail for coffee and not look like a bike geek.
-Quality, good stitching, comfy chamois, and durable in the wash.
-Versatile, plenty of pockets, with velcro enclosure, one zipped pocket for I.D., coins, etc..

Weaknesses:    Drawstring is a flat cord, that is made from cotton material. Might not last over time, but elastic in waste eliminates its use for the most part.

Bottom Line:

Great short overall. Wait for current year shorts to go on sale at Supergo in SoCal. They clear them out at 50% off. Fox Racing also sells them clearanced in their catalog. Some years they don't offer alot of choice on color. 2002, green, blue, black, khaki. 2003, black and gray only. ??

Strengths:    Great bike fit, tuff material, drawstring, lots of pockets and overall good looks.

Weaknesses:    Stitching in the seat area

Bottom Line:

You get what you pay for, my only complaint is the stitching in the seat needs to be stronger. My first pair ripped out within a year, Fox was happy to replace them, but I was not happy waiting 2 weeks for my new pair. I've considered getting a 2nd pair as a back up.

Strengths:    Looks, Stretch gusset in crotch, high back.

Weaknesses:    A bit tight in the waist, similiar fit to Nema, bit overpriced

Bottom Line:

Good short. Could have a bit more elastic in the waist, but the high back is nice, prevents plumber's crack. My riding buddies love that.
