If your day involves downhill lift laps and post-ride beers with your posse, then the DAKINE Men's Syncline Short with Chamois Liner has your name written all over it.Removable Dolomiti Italian chamois wicks moisture away from your skin, and has a comfortable elastic waist band that won't chafe on the descentFront vents and zippered inner leg vents keep you cool when the weather gets hotGusset in the crotch and an all-mountain fit increase range of motion when you're pedalingHeavyweight rib knit back stretch panel won't slip down on the ascentZippered hand pockets store your keys and a quick snackSide-waist tab adjustments for on-the-go fitTwo back pockets stash your ID and cash when you head to happy hour
Strengths: Good fit, nice liner (not chamois), no belt needed. Buttons have improved over last model. Overall fit is very nice.
Weaknesses: Fabric failure after 3 months of riding. They don't hold up to your standard riding fare. The lighter color fabrics dirt stain easily. Ride through mud and your short is forever marked.
The back side of the short is poorly designed. Fabric, sewing, pockets (why put on two back pockets). Complete failure after 3 months of riding. Seams blown, fabric starting to fray. Not a good investment for a short over a c-note. However the hassle is Dakine and their returns. Warrenty is said for 2 years. Great! However if you purchased Dakine products from an online retailer, then they have you return the product to them, rather than Dakine directly. To be replaced by what? I bought through Sierra Trading Post and the Syncline is nowhere to be found. I guess I'm SOL.
